Locally-sold crafts helping African women
Dolls, necklaces and baskets made by women in Uganda are being sold in Lawrence to help the impoverished women. Two local women are working together to raise money with the sales.

Grants to help curb underage drug use
Federal grants will help institute programs to help educate area youths about underage alcohol consumption and marijuana use. High school aged students in Douglas County are prone to the illegal activities.

School district considering teacher housing
School board president Rich Minder wants to be able to pay teachers what they're worth. A possible way to get around the lack of education funding would be to offer cheaper rent in district-owned family housing.

Lawrence makes list for speed trap cities
Lawrence and Overland Park both made a list for worst speed trap cities in North America. The number of speeding tickets issued in Lawrence has dropped by about 2,000 tickets in the past three years.

Former Lion signs D-I baseball deal
Former Lawrence High baseball star Landon Moseley has signed with Division I Northern Colorado. The former Lion was seriously injured in May when a stray ball hit him in the head. Through sports and academic scholarships, Moseley's college costs are already paid for.
