Woman in serious condition after hit-and-run accident
A woman was taken to KU Hospital Sunday afternoon after sustaining serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident. The woman had the vehicle back over her before the driver fled the scene.
New Basehor school dedicated
The new Basehor elementary school got things going Sunday with a dedication ceremony for the new building. More than 200 students will be attending classes in the new building.
Man arrested after shooting at vehicle
A Kansas City, Kan., man was arrested early Sunday after firing several rounds at a vehicle near 23rd and Iowa streets. No one was injured during the incident.
School board to mull cut options
The Lawrence school board will present the options for budget cuts during its meeting this week. Cuts are necessary for closing a $5 million gap.
Fire claims local daycare
A fire early Saturday morning caused more than $150,000 of damage to a Lawrence daycare center. The cause was determined to be inattentive cooking.
Local man gets new lease on life
A local man got a second chance at life when he received a heart transplant. He will leave the hospital 10 days after the surgery and plans on being able to work in about a year.
Volunteers prepare meals for Haiti
Volunteers spent the day Saturday at Eudora Elementary School packing meals for survivors in Haiti. The volunteers packed more than 150,000 meals.

Jayhawk women end regular season with loss
A reeling women's basketball team continued its difficult schedule right to the end with a loss to ranked Texas A&M. The contest was the last home game for several senior players.
Basehor girls advance
The Basehor-Linwood girls basketball team beat up on Baldwin during weekend play. The Bobcats beat the Bulldogs 46-37.
Basehor title defense dreams end
The Basehor-Linwood boys basketball team will not repeat as state champions. The Bobcats fell 53-50 to Sumner.
Firebirds' season at an end
The Firebird boys couldn't find their offense and saw their season end at the hands of Shawnee Mission West. Free State fell 49-39.
KU baseball takes three of four
The nationally ranked Jayhawks baseball team won three of four weekend games against Iowa. Kansas won its final game on Sunday 15-7 to improve to 7-3 overall on the young season.
Woman suffers serious injuries in hit-and-run
A woman was transported by air ambulance to Kansas University Hospital Sunday afternoon after she suffered serious injuries in an east Lawrence car-pedestrian hit-and-run accident.
