The first of three scheduled blasts to clear out the old Kansas River bridge took place Sunday. The blast leveled a section of the bridge, which landed with a resounding thud and cloud of dust.

Man suffers injuries in fight outside Granada
A 21-year-old Missouri man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Sunday morning after being knocked unconscious during a fight outside The Granada. The main suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Women's basketball offense explodes in first victory
The lady Jayhawks scored 106 points in the team's first victory of the season. The defense was a little lacking though, as Oral Roberts scored 80 in the contest.
KU volleyball takes down ranked opponent
The Jayhawks' volleyball team beat No. 21 Baylor in four sets during the weekend. The team takes on No. 8 Iowa State in its next match.
