Old river bridges will be blasted

A construction project that will erect a new Kansas River bridge will also destroy two current bridges. The project is estimated to cost $130 million and will be completed sometime in late December.

Man arrested in Oskaloosa homicide

A 50-year-old man was found dead on his farm Sunday morning. A 36-year-old man was arrested in the incident, which was originally reported as a missing persons case. The county attorney is expected to announce formal charges Monday.

Arrest made after chase on foot ends with tazing

Lawrence police arrested a 19-year-old Topeka man early Sunday after he led officers on a chase on foot. The man was jumping a fence near Dillons on Sixth street when he was tazed by a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper. The man was arrested on multiple drug violations.

House catches fire in 2100 block of Tennessee

A house was damaged extensively Saturday morning after it caught fire. The occupants escaped with minor injuries. The cause has been classified as accidental because of improper disposal of smoking material.

One arrested after police perform felony car stop

One person was arrested Saturday morning after police received a call saying someone in the car was displaying a gun. The suspect was reportedly pointing the gun at signs and at least one person. Police used a procedure known as a felony car stop to control the situation.

Police arrested two men Saturday after the forced entry into a Louisiana Street home. Neighbors were alerted to the event when they heard the sound of the door breaking.
