Grant to fund school's safe room
A tornado touched down south of Eudora less than three weeks ago. Soon, the city's new elementary school will be prepared to keep kids safe from dangerous storms. Thanks to a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the district has $550,000 to help with construction.

Kansas secondary looking to improve against Iowa State
The Kansas football team is only a day away from it's first Big 12 test of the season. KU completed it's non-con schedule ranked 76th nationally in pass defense. Following a 13-day break, however, members of the Kansas secondary won't accept another sub-par performance.

Fatal accident claims KU student's life
A KU student is dead after a fatal accident this early Thursday morning. Kansas University student and Air Force Staff Sgt. Neil Hockenbarger, 26, was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in northern Lawrence.

KU student killed in single-vehicle accident
Shortly after midnight, emergency crews responded to a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Michigan Street and Sunchase Drive, north of the Kansas Turnpike in Lawrence. A 26-year-old KU student died at the scene.
