- Both Lawrence Avenue, north of Sixth Street, and Princeton Avenue are very wide streets. They aren’t marked with any lines. Are they one or two lane streets? Is it appropriate to pass on them?
- Is it illegal to drive in rain or fog without your vehicle’s lights on? What are the penalties?

- Who’s responsible for sending out fire trucks and paramedics? Last night, I noticed at least three fire trucks and possibly two paramedics on West 25th Street. It appeared to be a false alarm because after five or 10 minutes, they all drove off.
- I think I saw a coyote on the turnpike right of way, in central Lawrence. Is that likely?

- In Wednesday’s paper, it stated Lawrence has three nursing homes. Is Windsor Place not a nursing home?
- When the city cleared streets of snow earlier this month, apparently the plows didn’t get close enough to the mailboxes for the Post Office to be happy. I received a notice that mail would be put on hold if all snow wasn’t cleared from around the mailbox. Who’s responsible, and where is the line drawn?

- The snow’s almost gone now, but in the future what number can we call to have snow removed from our driveway that is deposited from the city snowplow?
- Has any men’s basketball team in recent history gone undefeated for the season and then won the NCAA Championship? If not, what was the best record?

- What is up with this fog? Why has it been so foggy for so many days when it’s near freezing?
- What are the white crossbars painted on the street for? In the center of the crossbars, there’s a black square; inside that is some type of metal bolt.

- On Tuesday, Jan. 12, just before 5 p.m., a green hazmat van and a Lawrence fire truck marked Quinter 2, on the driver’s side door, came off K-10 bypass. They headed south on Highway 59 and drove south, past Pleasant Grove Hill, with their lights and sirens on. Where were they going? They disappeared off Highway 59, west on a road.
- I saw the new AT&T phone book has a picture of the Oread on the front of it. Did the hotel pay to have the picture chosen for the cover of the phone book?

- The city owns an empty lot next to mine. The sidewalk there is never shoveled unless a neighbor or myself do it. Can the city fine themselves?

- How do I find out the sales tax at various entities like state and county governments?
- Do the city and county have an expected salary for the new sustainability coordinator position they have created?

- The city limits parking in the same place on a street to 48 hours. Is the rule still enforced during snowy times like these?
- There has been a flashing light inside of Payless Furniture on Iowa Street. Is there a law or ordinance that could make them move the light, so it won’t be a distraction to drivers at night? It can be quite startling and blinding.

- I noticed the Journal-World sent three sports writers and I’m not sure how many photographers to the KU-Temple basketball game. Who pays for these trips? Do they ride with the team on the plane?
- Are snow-removing vehicles considered emergency vehicles? I saw one go through a red light.

- Why don’t the Douglas County inmates shovel sidewalks for elderly and handicapped people like they do in Shawnee County?
- What is a sun dog in weather terms?

- Are the sidewalks inside apartment complexes covered under the city’s snow shoveling ordinance? What about the sidewalk leading up to someone’s porch, or parking lots in shopping centers?

- I thought Congress passed a law that television commercials wouldn’t be louder than the regular program. When does it take effect?

- What is the city’s policy on enforcing parking meters during extremely cold or snowy weather? I have been told the parking officers aren’t out when the temperature drops below a certain point.
- What number can I call to complain about my neighbor not shoveling his sidewalk?

- Which agencies operate food banks and food pantries in Lawrence?

- Since Sunflower Broadband is now offering additional channels on its extended basic lineup, will the Journal-World be expanding the TV Weekly publication to include the listings for these channels?
- I went to Lawrence Memorial Hospital recently for a CT scan. I’d just had one three months earlier. And yet, I had to fill out all of the paperwork again. Why can’t they print out what I gave them three months ago and let me review it? Or something that makes more sense?
