This is Varsity House as it’s being reconstructed at the northwest corner of 11th and Indiana streets. The house is on the site of the new Varsity House Apartment complex. A deal was struck between the developers, City Hall and the Lawrence Preservation Alliance that the historic Varsity House boarding home, where college athletes used to stay, would be moved to a corner of the property. Once reassembled, the structure will serve as a boarding house next to the new apartment development.

Jacob Kopfman gets his Burlington High School senior picture taken with his twin brother, Jordan, in 2009. Jacob died in August 2011 after a work-related accident. Jordan was angry that he didn't have a chance to say goodbye to his brother, so he wrote a letter to help cope with his grief. That letter will be among hundreds published in a book, "The Letters Project Book: Letters to Lost Loved Ones," which is scheduled to be available in December.
Von Kopfman, of Topeka, is pictured with his son, Jordan, while holding a picture of Jordan's twin brother, Jacob, who died in August 2011 after being in a work-related accident. To help in their grieving process, they wrote letters to Jacob. It helped and so they encouraged others who had lost loved ones to do the same.
