Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crews responded to a two-alarm fire in the fifth floor of Malott Hall on the KU campus at about 7 a.m. Saturday. Malott Hall is home to the chemistry department. Crews were still assessing the damage and trying to determine a cause for the fire as of Saturday afternoon.

Nearby, the bench is a wreath with a blue ribbon saying "Beloved Coach." Fambrough — a noted hater of all things Missouri — died in September. Saturday could mark the end of the rivalry between his Jayhawks and the team he loved to hate, leaving KU fans two marked voids.

Dave Ketchum, Tonganoxie, is shown cutting and serving barbecued pork which served 300 square dancers and guests attending the barbecue and dance of the Happy Times Squares. In addition, the meal included potato salad, french fries, vegetables and homemade pies. The meal and dance was Aug. 27 at Building 21 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
