Lawrence High also will be getting donor-financed upgrades at field entrances and around scoreboards. Schools across the district are also undergoing remodeling to create or upgrade classroom spaces.

Annie Hadl, Eudora, and her daughter Taylor, 7, stopped in Burcham Park Friday, June 3, 2011, to see the Kansas River flooding the park. Taylor noticed the high water as they passed over the bridge into downtown Lawrence and the decided to go to the park to get a closer view. The park was closed by the city at 5 p.m. Thursday.

A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of North 1100 and East 1500 roads sent both drivers to LMH with minor injuries Friday, June 3, 2011. A Ford Explorer rolled over onto its top and a Chevrolet Suburban crashed into a utility pole. No passengers were in either vehicle.
