Groups of students took turns with mallets and sledge hammers to an old Toyota to raise awareness and money for local food pantries. Piano protégé: Lawrence High School sophomore Yoonji Seo won first place in the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition 2011. The competition is open to instrumentalists, vocalists, and traditional folk and jazz groups of all nationalities and countries. Seo won first place in the area contest, which entitled her to participate in the winners’ recital on March 12 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Arla Jones submitted the photo.
