The students were on a field trip Friday to the Bald Eagle Rendezvous along the Kansas River near the first Kansas Democratic Headquarters in Lecompton. The rendezvous continues through Sunday.

Dillon, Cincinnati, a 1973 KU graduate, is CEO and chairman of the board of Kroger Co. Shinn, Shaker Heights, Ohio, is a 1966 KU graduate and is a certified financial planner and personal finance columnist for black newspapers. He spent most of his career working for General Electric and Ford Motor Co. Blair, Olathe, is a 1965 KU graduate who served on the Kansas Board of Regents from 1999 to 2003 and is on the Kansas Bioscience Authority. Friday's event was at the Outlook, Chancellor Robert Hemenway's home on the KU campus.

Henry D. Remple, Lawrence, dedicates granite markers in front of a group of family members May 8 at Tabor College in Hillsboro. Remple, who donated the markers, has nearly completed the project he and his wife, Mariana Lohrenz Remple, initiated before her death in September 2000. The larger marker honors Mariana's father, Tabor founder H.W. Lohrenz, and a smaller marker honors both Lohrenz and his daughter. Submitted by Lucy J. Remple McAllister.
