Lawrence police officers follow the trail of footprints in the snow believed to have been left by a man who robbed the Central National Bank, 711 Wakarusa Dr., at gunpoint Friday morning. Officers were tracking the suspect to the cul-de-sac at Congressional Way behind Dillons grocery store.

Farm Bureau members on Thursday were at Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway, giving away bread and buying about $200 worth of groceries for selected individuals. The U.S. Agriculture Department estimated that by Thursday the average American had earned enough in 2003 to pay for their entire family's annual food supply. The department estimated an average family spends 10 percent of its disposable income on food.

Eudora Firefighters work the scene of a fatal house fire at 901 Ash St. in Eudora. One body was found Thursday afternoon in the house that belonged to an elderly Eudora woman. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
