The future bride is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Kansas University in 2010 and a master’s degree in social work from Washburn University this May.
The future groom is the son of Charles F. Helmer, Lawrence, and Alice and Dan Walton, Bolivar, Mo. He is a 2004 graduate of Lawrence High. He attended Johnson County Community College and is a zone maintenance supervisor at KU.
The couple plan a Sept. 29, 2012, wedding in Baldwin City.

Patricia and Tom Martin, Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Curtis Van Nostrand, Lisbon, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Marie Van Nostrand, to Walter John Kopecky III, both of Lawrence.
The future bride is 2000 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Southeast Missouri State University in 2006 and a master’s degree in flute performance from Kansas University this May. She is a freelance flutist and teacher in the Lawrence and Kansas City areas and is also an announcer for Kansas Public Radio (KANU-FM).
The future groom is the son of Walter II and Valerie Kopecky, Creve Couer, Mo., and Susan Kopecky, Maryland Heights, Mo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 2006 and is a software engineer for Garmin International in Olathe.
The couple plan a Dec. 1, 2012, wedding at Danforth Chapel at KU.

The future bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She is studying for a bachelor’s degree in music education at Wichita State University and plans to graduate December 2013.
The future groom is the son of Merl and Jo Anna Wheeler, San Antonio. He is a graduate of Judson High School in San Antonio and is serving in the U.S. Air Force.
The couple plan a July 21, 2012, wedding at University Congregational Church in Wichita.

The future bride is a 2001 graduate of McLouth High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of St. Mary. She is a payroll/benefits specialist with the Lawrence Public Schools.
The future groom is the son of Kevin and Connie Kesinger, Lawrence. He is a 1996 graduate of Lawrence High School and is a foreman with John Rohrer Contracting Co., Kansas City, Kan.
The couple plan a Sept. 22, 2012, wedding at the Historic Taylor Barn in Lawrence.

Ashley Butler, Lawrence, and Jacob Hamilton, Topeka, were married April 14, 2012, at Memorial Hall, in Kansas City, Kan., with Eric Turner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Maria Butler, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Jan and Therese Hamilton, Topeka, and JoAn and Allan Lindfors, Marquette.
Maid of honor was Becky Wenger. Best man was Adam Rombough. Bridesmaids were Laura Cornett, Breanna Pence and Kelsey Pence. Groomsmen were Rich Bayha, Jake Smith and Dave Hendershot. Ushers were Jacob Butler and Aaron Roberts. Ringbearer was Connor Moore. Flower girl was Lorelai Matteson.
A reception followed at Memorial Hall.
The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School, attended Baker University, and is employed with Farmers Insurance in Olathe.
The groom is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School in Topeka and Baker University. He is also employed with Farmers Insurance in Olathe.
The couple reside in Gardner.

Chuck and Mary Ledom, Lawrence, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 26 with friends and family at their son’s home in Leawood.
Mary Sommer and Chuck Ledom, were married June 26, 1957, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.
They have four sons, Mark and wife Lisa, Greg and wife Lynn, John and wife Karen, and Josh and wife Melissa; four daughters, Becky Allen and husband Tim, Susan Timper, Teresa Reddick and husband Paul, and Kathy Lisbon and husband Keith; 26 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
