Dan and Carol Abrahamson, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary over the Fourth of July weekend with a family trip to Branson, Mo.
The couple met in Bloomington, Ill., and were married July, 22, 1961, at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington by her brother, the Rev. George A. Isley III.
Dan graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and Carol graduated from Wheaton College. The couple moved to Lawrence in August 1961. Dan worked at Reuter Organ Company. Carol was an elementary school teacher in the Lawrence school district.
In retirement, they enjoy volunteering, gardening, water gardening, making music at their church and spending time with their family. They are members of First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, where they are also members of the choir and the bell choir. Dan was also the organist for 43 years at the church.
They have a son, Rik, and daughter-in-law, Shannon, Lawrence; three daughters, Emily Cates, and son-in-law, Rick, Lawrence; Heather Williams, and son-in-law, Kevin, and Jennifer Towle, and son-in-law, Frank, all of Topeka. The couple have seven grandchildren.
Carl and Suzie Craig, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family this fall.
The couple were married Aug. 27, 1961, at First Christian Church in Lawrence.
Carl is a retired journeyman power line man and a business owner. Suzie is a homemaker, Carl’s bookkeeper and an artist.
They have a son, Jay, Foxpoint, Wisc.; two daughters, Carol Craig, Roeland Park, and Joan Eidson, and son-in-law, Ed, Coronado Island, Calif.; and an honorary son, David Shaw, and honorary daughter-in-law, Kelly, Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and four honorary grandchildren.
Donovan and Lloyd
Nicole Michelle Donovan, Osawatomie, and John Richard Lloyd, Lawrence, were married Aug. 9, 2010, in a beach ceremony, at the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, Mexico.
Nicole is the daughter of Coleen and Bill Donovan, Olathe.
Rich is the son of Dicksie Lloyd, Lawrence, and John Lloyd, Towson, Md.
A reception was given Sept. 24 at The Grand Loft in Osawatomie.
The bride is a graduate of Osawatomie High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas University and a master’s degree in school psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a school psychologist in the Mount Pleasant school district.
The groom is a graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from KU and is the assistant director of finance at the Four Seasons Hotel New York.
The couple reside in New York City.
Johnson and Watkins
Kirsten Laine Johnson, Austin, Texas, and Patrick Reid Watkins, Lawrence, were married May 7, 2011, at The Winfield Inn, in Kyle, Texas, with Judge Paula Martin officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Johnson, Austin.
The groom is the son of Dan and Phyllis Watkins, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Amy Emerson. Best man was Andrew Watkins. Bridesmaids were Erin Skalak, Jessica Pfeiffer and Taylor Johnson. Groomsmen were Matt Watkins, DJ Watkins and Ryne Johnson. Musician was W.C. Beck. Readers were Katie Winter and Kelly Sharp. Flower girl was Hailey Watkins. House party attendants were Tricia Watkins, Meghan Johnson, Larissa Romero. Ushers were Dakota Loomis, Connor Treanor, Colin Baumchen and Will Stinson.

The bride is a graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of North Texas, and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. She is a postdoctoral psychology resident at the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
The groom is a graduate of Free State High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Southwestern University and a juris doctor from Kansas University School of Law. He is employed at Orrick and Erskine, a law firm based in Kansas City, Kan.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Patterson and Wakeman

The future bride is a 2008 graduate of Frontenac High School. She plans to earn a biology degree with an emphasis in physical therapy from Pittsburg State University in May 2012.
The future groom is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in wood manufacturing engineering technology from PSU in 2010 and is employed by Westhoff Interiors Inc. in St. Paul.

Schelar and Anstandig

The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2008 and a doctorate in physical therapy in May 2010, both from Saint Louis University. She is employed by SSM Physical Therapy in St. Louis.
The future groom is a 2002 graduate of John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. He earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics from Park College Saint Louis University in May 2006 and is employed as a financial analyst with Airport Terminal Services in St. Louis.
