Wilbur

Marian and Ray Wilbur

Ray and Marian Wilbur, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an afternoon reception, hosted by their sons and grandsons, for family and friends July 30 at Maceli’s.
Marian Mathews and Ray Wilbur were married June 4, 1960, at Christ Cathedral in Salina.
Both are retired teachers. Ray taught in Goodland and Moundridge, and Lincoln, Neb. He then taught for 30 years at Lawrence High School. He finished his career at Bishop Seabury Academy with 12 years of part-time teaching. Marian taught in Salina and McPherson. She finished her career with 28 years at West Junior High School and 12 years at Bishop Seabury Academy as a volunteer librarian.
Both Ray and Marian are active in a number of volunteer organizations in Lawrence including Friends of the Library, Meals on Wheels, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Trinity Episcopal Church and Audio-Reader.
They have two sons, Michael and wife, Katie, Wilton, Conn., and Patrick and wife, Candi, Lawrence; and three grandsons.

Anniversary

Bristol

Marilyn and Clyde Bristol

Clyde and Marilyn Bristol, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Circle S Ranch, Lawrence.
Marilyn McLucas and Clyde Bristol were married Sept. 11, 1960, at Second Presbyterian Church in Topeka.
Clyde retired from Roadway Express after 30 years of service, and Marilyn retired from Mercantile Bank.
Hosts for the celebration are their children, Troy and Leah Bristol, Todd and Laurie Bristol, and Shawn and Amie Bristol.
They have seven grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.

Williams

Melvin and Joyce Williams

Joyce and Melvin Williams, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Train Depot (Lawrence Visitor Information Center), 402 N. Second St.
Joyce Box and Melvin Williams were married Sept. 30, 1960, at First Baptist Church in Basehor.
Melvin graduated from Basehor High School and retired from Delta Airlines in 1994. Joyce also graduated from Basehor High School and retired from Lawrence Memorial Hospital in 2007. The couple currently own and operate MJ Ranch outside of Lawrence.
They have four children, Robin Sparks, Pittsburg, Mo., Scott Williams, Los Angeles, and Mark Williams and Kendra Williams, both of Lawrence; and eight grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.

Smitty and Mae Smith

Walter “Smitty” C. and Mae Fern Smith, Medicalodges Eudora nursing home, former longtime residents of Bonner Springs, will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the farm home of David and Dorothy Klamm, 16639 Metro Ave., Bonner Springs.
The Smiths were married Sept. 9, 1935, in the county courthouse in Versailles, Mo.
The couple met as members of the 4-H organization during the early 1930s.
Their children, Dwight (Sharon) Smith, Elaine Brauer and her family, and Nancy Thomas and her family, are organizing the event.

Mike and Julie Craig announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Craig, to Cory Wright, all of Baldwin City.
The future bride is a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree with a major in athletic training and a minor in health and physical education from Emporia State University in May. She is employed at Baker University.
The future groom is the son of Steve and Kathy Wright, Baldwin City. He is also a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School. He will earn bachelor’s degrees in interdisciplinary business and biology from Baker University in December.
The couple plan a Nov. 20, 2010, wedding at Baldwin First United Methodist Church.

Buddy and Irene Langford announce the engagement of their daughter, Jacinta Langford, to Nicholas Hoyt, all of Lawrence.
The future bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University, and is the owner of marketing company LangfordMedia.
The future groom is the son of John Hoyt and Jane Hoyt, both of Lawrence. He is a graduate of Free State High School and KU, and is an engineer at GBA in Lenexa.
The couple plan a Nov. 26, 2010, wedding at St. John the Evangelist Church in Lawrence.

Edward and Donna Laut along with Paul and Kathleen Mosher announce the engagement of their children, Emily Laut and Nicholas Mosher, all of Lawrence.
The future bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned bachelor’s degrees in English and geology, both from Kansas University, a master’s degree in science writing from The Johns Hopkins University, and is employed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The future groom is also a graduate of Lawrence High, earned a bachelor’s degree in theater design from KU, and is employed with Midwest Information Technology Solutions.
The couple plan an Oct. 8, 2010, wedding at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.

Randall and Linda Swain, Lawrence, along with Dung and Khoa Dao Nguyen, Wichita, announce the engagement of their children, Mimi Nguyen and Jameson Swain, both of Chicago.
The future bride is a graduate of Wichita North High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in sociology and marketing from Wichita State University and a Master of Business Administration from Baker University, and is the associate trade marketing manager at Dyson Inc., Chicago.
The future groom is a graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Kansas University and is an application developer at onPeak, LLC, Chicago.
The couple plan an Oct. 2, 2010, wedding at Danforth Chapel at KU.

Alana Taesue Lobit and Nathan Frederick Vormehr, both of Los Angeles, were married in a double ring ceremony June 19, 2010, in an outdoor wedding held at the Williams’ Estate in Lawrence.
The bride is the daughter of Edgar Jay Lobit and Hui Suk Lobit, both of Los Angeles.
The groom is the son of Vicki Vormehr, Lawrence, and the late Stephen Vormehr.
Co-maids of honor were Athena Lobit and Alyssa Lobit. Best man was Jorde Matthews. Bridesmaids were Katy Vormehr and Amy Vormehr. Groomsmen were Philip Tavasci, Kyle Nelson and Richard “French” Sayer.
The bride and groom are the owners of a retail boutique named No. A (Number A) in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles.
The couple reside in Los Angeles.
