Allison and Luke Armstrong
Allison Coverdell, Maryville, Mo., and Luke Armstrong, Lawrence, were married July 24, 2010, at Harmony Vineyard Church in Kansas City, Mo., with the Rev. Emily Carroll and Nathan Beard officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Rodney and Juledene Coverdell, Maryville.
The groom is the son of Jack Armstrong, Westfield, Wis., and Kathi Hartog, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Brooke Coverdell. Best man was Benjamin Aber. Bridesmaids were Megan Rust, Lacey Auffert and Jenni Mann. Groomsmen were Tyler Emery, Alan Wegener and Eric Mann. Ushers were Tyler Coverdell and Chris Bier. Musicians were Sue Aber, piano, and Kyle Lewis, violin.
A reception followed at the church.
The bride is a graduate of Maryville High School. She earned bachelor’s degrees in management and marketing from Northwest Missouri State University and is a customer service representative at Apria Health Care.
The groom is a graduate of Tonganoxie High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Kansas State University and is a commercial underwriter at American Family Insurance.
The couple reside in Kansas City, Mo.

Moran
Matt and Nikki Moran
Nicole “Nikki” Marie Cruise and Matthew “Matt” Joseph Moran, both of Lawrence, were married June 5, 2010, in the Crystal Ballroom at The Eldridge Hotel, with Carmen Hocking officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Cathy Cruise, St. Louis.
The groom is the son of Robert and Jan Moran, St. Louis.
Matron of honor was Liz Brockland. Bridesmaids were Christy Hoffman and Jaclyn Mosely. Best man was Tim Moran. Groomsmen were Chris Rohlfing and Elliot Duemler. Readers were Maggie Rose and Jean Dolan. Music was provided by The Good Foot.
A reception followed at the ballroom.
The bride earned a geological sciences degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in December 2002.
The groom earned a fine arts degree from Kansas University in December 2006.
The couple reside in Mission.

Preston Lawrenz and Kimberli Taylor
Ronald and Pamela Taylor, Weeping Water, Neb., along with Ronald Lawrenz, Lawrence, and Linda Barrington, Baldwin City, announce the engagement of their children, Kimberli Taylor, Weeping Water, and Preston Lawrenz, Baldwin City.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Weeping Water High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Baker University in 2005. Since graduation, she has been employed by Cerner Corporation where she currently is a contract consultant.
The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Baldwin High School. He is employed by the Federal Aviation Administration in Olathe as an air traffic controller.
The couple plan an Oct. 9, 2010, wedding at the Worden United Methodist Church in Baldwin City.

James and Vonda Mailen
James and Vonda Mailen, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11 with a private celebration with family and friends.
Vonda Roseanne Craig and James Perry Mailen were married Sept. 11, 1960, in Clay Center.
James and Vonda are graduates of Clay Center High School and moved to Lawrence in the mid-1960s. Vonda was employed by Kansas University’s Watkins Memorial Health Center where she retired after 39 years of service. James was employed by Rusty’s IGA in Lawrence for several years and then by KU Facilities Operations where he retired after 25 years of service.
The couple have two sons, Troy James and wife Gail, Tonganoxie, and Todd Patrick, Lawrence; a daughter, ShyAnne Lynn Mailen, Lawrence; and seven grandchildren.

Kenneth and Carol Koch, Home, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at St. Gregory’s Church Hall, 1310 Carolina St., Marysville.
Carol Brecheisen and Kenneth Koch were married July 2, 1960, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.
Kenneth is from Axtell. Carol is formerly of the Clearfield community, south of Eudora, and graduated from Baldwin High School. They have lived in Home since 1977.
They have five sons, Kelvin, Bradley, Jeffery, Wayne and wife Sarah, and Troy; and five grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.

John and Margaret Banks
Margaret and John Banks, Osage City, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, 3411 Iowa.
Margaret Decker and John Banks were married Sept. 11, 1960, in Lebanon, Mo.
John graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence and retired from Kmart Distribution Center in March 1997. Margaret graduated from Center High School in Springfield, Mo., and worked at Medical Arts Pharmacy as a delivery driver.
The couple have four daughters, Debbie Heath and husband Gary, Tonganoxie, Diana Huseby and Mary Banks, both of Lawrence, and Sharon Watson and husband Doug, Lyndon; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
