Lois and Fred Mersmann, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th anniversary with an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St., Lawrence.
Lois Holmes and Fred Mersmann were married Nov. 6, 1970, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora.
Fred is employed with ICL, and Lois works for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
They have three children, Julie Dukart and husband Darrin, Omaha, Neb.; Emily Johnson and husband Josh, Lawrence; and Dennis Mersmann and wife Alaide Vilchis Ibarra, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.

Jon and Tammy Barta, Lawrence, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a family party on Tuesday and a cruise to Alaska in June.
Jon Barta and Tammy Copp were married Oct. 26, 1985, in Lawrence.
Jon is a 1985 graduate of Lawrence High School and is a police officer for the Lawrence Police Department. Tammy is a 1984 graduate of LHS and is an office manager in the Kansas University School of Business.
The couple have two children, Timothy Barta and Tia Barta, both of Lawrence.

David and Alice Norris, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this month with family and friends in Colorado.
The couple were married Oct. 30, 1960, in Sweet Springs, Mo.

The bride is the daughter of David and Pamela Ludwick, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Doug and Roxie Brensing, Lenexa.
Matron of honor was Teal Wilson. Best man was Kyle Williams. Bridesmaids were Tricia Brensing and Rachel Dorsey. Groomsmen were Tony Stowe and Justin Cohenour. Flower girl was Brianna Means. Ringbearer was Cayden Peterson. Personal attendants were Kelli Lambrecht and Lacey Altwegg. Reception hostess and host were Lane and Ben Downey.
A reception was given at Spring Hill Suites in Lawrence.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Ottawa High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in food science from Kansas State University in 2009 and plans to complete a master’s degree in food science from K-State in May 2011.
The groom is a 2006 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He plans to complete a master’s degree in landscape architecture/regional and community planning from K-State in May 2011.
The couple reside in Manhattan.

Miriam Beatriz Toledo Subirana, Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and Jonathan Thomas Lusk, Lawrence, were married July 30, 2010, at Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora in Santa Cruz, with the Rev. Ciro Montemuro officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ludwig Toledo Vazquez and Sara Miriam Subirana Suarez, Santa Cruz.
The groom is the son of John Lyndon Lusk, Lawrence, and Renette Channell, Lawrence.
A reception was given at Club Social 24 de Septiembre in Santa Cruz.
The bride graduated from Espiritu Santo High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. She earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas University and currently is working on her Ph.D. dissertation in civil engineering at KU. She also is a graduate teaching assistant.
The groom is a graduate of Free State High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, both from KU, and is currently employed at the National Institute for Aviation Research.
The couple reside in Wichita.

The couple plan a March 2011 wedding at Hilton President Hotel in downtown Kansas City, Mo.
