Gammill

Mette and John-Todd Gammill

Mette Esbensen and John-Todd Gammill, both of Lawrence, were married Aug. 6, 2010, in Lawrence with Elmer Fetters officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Flemming Esbensen and Hanne Christensen, both of Sonderborg, Denmark.
The groom is the son of Rick and Brenda Gammill, Lawrence.
Ringbearer was Rider Martin. Flower girls were Lola Martin and Cameran Clutchey.
The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned an associate’s degree from Johnson County Community College and will attend Kansas University in the fall.
The groom is also a graduate of LHS. He attended KU and is employed with Natural Breeze Remodeling, Lawrence.
The couple reside in Lawrence, and will travel to Denmark next year for a vow confirmation ceremony followed by a reception in Lawrence.

Timothy and Melania Hofer

Melania Lucretia Birladeanu, Alba Iulia, Romania, and Timothy George Hofer, Lawrence, were married July 2, 2010, in a civil ceremony in city hall by Ana-Camelia Rategan in Alba Iulia, and July 3, 2010, in a religious ceremony led by Teodor Alb and Dumitru Vanca at Orthodox Cathedral of the Reunification in Albu Iulia.
The bride is the daughter of Lucian and Ecaterina Birladeanu, Alba Iulia.
The groom is the son of Rodney and Roberta Hofer, Lawrence.
Nikolai Yotov and Roxana Chesoi served as the nasi, an Orthodox tradition where a married couple perform the duties of a best man and maid of honor and also have responsibilities after the wedding.
A reception followed the ceremony at Hotel Cetate in Alba Iulia. A second reception will be held Sept. 11 at the Castle Tea Room in Lawrence.
The bride is a graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, and Universite d’Orleans, Orleans, France. She earned a master’s degree from Universite Paris 1, Pantheon-Sorbonne, and will be studying at Universite Paris 6 in the fall.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Hendrix College, Conway, Ark., and master’s degrees from Pittsburg State University and Universite Paris 1, Pantheon-Sorbonne. He is completing a doctoral program at Universite Paris 1, Pantheon-Sorbonne.
The couple reside in Paris.

Erika Nelson, Lindsborg, and Jesse Newell, Emporia, were married June 5, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church in Emporia, with the Rev. Rich Warsnak officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Karen Nelson, Lincoln.
The groom is the son of Dennis Newell and Barb Ternes, both of Emporia.
Maid of honor was Sara Nelson. Best man was Jake Newell. Bridesmaids were Ami Sneath and Jennifer Newell. Groomsmen were Michael Rincon and Bob Lawson. Ushers were Jerry Cook and Michael Kennett. Guestbook attendant was Erika Kuster. Gift table attendant was Katie Morris.
A reception followed at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Emporia State University in May.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Emporia High School, and earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and communication studies from Kansas University in 2006.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Emily Mersmann, Lawrence, and Joshua Johnson, Excelsior Springs, Mo., were married July 16, 2010, in Lawrence, with Judge Peggy Carr Kittel officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Fred and Lois Mersmann, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Nathan and Jerrie Johnson, Excelsior Springs.
Maid of honor was Julie Dukart. Best man was Rick Thomas.
A reception was given at The Eldridge Hotel.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in community health from Kansas University in 2004 and is the business manager at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting in 2001, and a master’s degree in accounting and information systems in 2002, both from KU, and is a finance manager at Collective Brands Inc.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Zeller, Lecompton.
The groom is the son of Ken and Jan Tilghman, Olathe.
Matron of honor was April Bayless. Best man was Tony Grimes. Bridesmaid was Emily Palmer. Groomsmen were Chris Palmer and Robb Palmer. Ushers were Aaron Bayless and Zach Ward. Ringbearer was Mason Bayless. Bible bearer was Aidan Palmer. Flower girls were Lacy Bayless and Delany Palmer.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of Shawnee Heights High School. She graduated from Pinnacle Career Institute’s massage therapy program and is a massage therapist at Massage Envy in Lawrence.
The groom is also a 2007 graduate of Shawnee Heights High. He attended Johnson County Community College and is employed by Scantron.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Jonnie Finger, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Marvin and Karyn Bredehoft, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Abigail Siemers. Best man was Jonathan Berkley. Bridesmaids were Heather Boege, Kristen Finger, Rebekah Finger, Kimberly Harbour and Elizabeth Johnson. Groomsmen were Jonathon Alley, Todd Bredehoft, Andrew Campbell, Luke Finger and David Franklin. Ushers were Chad Johnson, Doug Reed, Tim Reed and Aaron Siemers. Flower girl was Bethany Barclay. The bride is a 1999 graduate of Free State High School and a 2004 graduate of Kansas University. She is an environmental scientist with the Environmental Protection Agency in Kansas City, Kan.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School, and 2003 graduate of KU. He is a staff pharmacist at Medical Arts Pharmacy in Lawrence.

Woodyard

Eleanor and George Woodyard

George and Eleanor Woodyard, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 31 with the dedication of a garden at the Lawrence Rotary Arboretum and an afternoon reception for family and friends at the Adams Alumni Center at Kansas University.
The Woodyards moved to Lawrence in 1966 after George finished his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois. At KU, he was a professor of Spanish and held several administrative positions, including dean of international studies, until his retirement in 2005. Eleanor was a high school teacher and has been involved with antique groups, garden clubs and the League of Women Voters, in addition to being a homemaker. They have both been active in Immanuel Lutheran Church.
They have two sons, Lance and wife Dr. Erika, Collbran, Colo., and Devon, Cedar Crest, N.M.; two daughters, Shana Stuart and husband Dr. Scott, Iowa City, Iowa, and Kenda Arendt and husband Al, Kansas City, Kan.; and eight grandchildren.

Roscoe and LaVere Husted

Roscoe and Lavere Husted, lifelong residents of Lawrence celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary with their children Dolores Kilburn, Joyce Bowen, Donna Kilburn and Gary Husted. They have 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Max and Doris Moore

Max and Doris Moore, Baldwin City, celebrated their 70th anniversary on Aug. 7.
Max Moore and Doris Winters were married in 1940, in Lawrence.
The Moores are lifelong residents of Douglas County where they continue to run the family farm. Over the years, they have enjoyed playing country music, raising livestock, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
They have a daughter, Donna Slusser and husband Louis; a son, Danny and wife Rhonda, all of Baldwin City; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Gloria and Bob Pringle

Robert “Bob” Sr. and Gloria Pringle, Baldwin City, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Marisco’s in Lawrence.
Gloria M. Anthony and Robert D. Pringle Sr. were married Aug. 14, 1955, in Yuma, Ariz.
Bob graduated from Lawrence High School and served in the U.S. Marines for four years. He retired from General Motors, and owns Siebar Service Heating and Cooling with his son, Rob. Gloria graduated from Satanta High School. She attended Kansas University, majoring in art, and is an administrative assistant at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
They have a daughter, Jan Hornberger and husband Chip; a son, Rob and wife Jeri, all of Baldwin City; and two grandchildren, Kayla Pringle and Clint Hornberger.
