Brett Buxton and Dayna Alvey

Scot and Jane Buxton, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son, Brett Buxton, to Dayna Alvey, both of Monterey, Calif.
The future groom is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in American studies and history with a minor in communications from Kansas University. He is the hotel manager of Casa Palmero at Pebble Beach Resorts.
The future bride is the daughter of Robert Alvey, San Ramon, Calif., and Caron Oclassen, Sun Valley, Idaho. She is a 2001 graduate of California High School in San Ramon. She earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation, parks and tourism administration with a minor in elementary education from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She is the event coordinator at Pasadera Country Club in Monterey.
The couple plan a July 4, 2010, wedding at the Memory Garden at the Custom House Plaza, in Monterey.

The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in applied behavioral sciences from Kansas University in 2005, and is employed as a dental assistant with Handley Dental in Houston.
The future groom is the son of Linda Thompson and Dale and Donna Wilson, all of Houston. He is a 1995 graduate of Parkway North High School in St. Louis, and earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from KU in 2007. He is employed as a graphic artist with Farouk Systems in Houston.
The couple plan a May 22, 2010, wedding at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.
