Lindsay and Timothy Shumate
Lindsay G. Nyberg, El Dorado, and Timothy R. Shumate, Wichita, were married July 18, 2009, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University, with the Rev. Josh Longbottom officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ed and Brenda Nyberg, El Dorado.
The groom is the son of William Shumate, Wichita, and Diane Shumate, El Dorado.
Maid of honor was Rachel White. Best man was Brian Powell. Bridesmaid was Tara Scroggin. Groomsman was Justin Mawhirter. Flower girls were Scout Booth-Meyer and Emily Powell. Ushers were Wesley Nyberg and Benjamin Shumate. Reader was Hank Booth.
A reception was given at Kansas Union at the university.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of El Dorado High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Kansas State University in 2006 and is a legal assistant in Lawrence.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Northeast Magnet High School. He earned an associate’s degree in fire science from Butler Community College in 2006 and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at KU. He is an assistant superintendent for a construction company in Lawrence.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Stanhope and Dinsdale
Rawley and Sarah Stanhope
Sarah Katherine Dinsdale, Lawrence, and Rawley James Stanhope, Davis, Calif., were married Sept. 5, 2009, at First Christian Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. William Vogler officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Robert and Katherine Dinsdale, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Darryl Stanhope and Kimber Stanhope, both of Davis.
Maids of honor were Anne and Carolyn Dinsdale. Best man was Kenton Stanhope. Bridesmaids were Paige Dinsdale, Nicole Moody, Jen Thatcher and Ellen Beard. Groomsmen were Steve Holm, Brent Throneburg, Kyle Weatherholtz, Trent Snarr and Brandon Close. Bridal attendants were Hannah Cheyney and Naomi Dugger.
A reception was given at The Alton Ballroom at Pachamamas.
The bride is a graduate of Free State High School and Sterling College.
The groom is a graduate of Davis (Calif.) High School and Virginia Tech. He is a biomedical engineer at Biomet in Parsippany, N.J.
The couple reside in Rockaway, N.J.
Anniversary
Rosell
Benny T. and Pat J. Rosell
Benny T. and Pat J. Rosell, Baldwin City, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an autumn vacation in Arkansas.
The couple were married Oct. 24, 1959, at the Nazarene Church in Cherokee, Okla.
Benny and Pat lived most of their married life in Hoxie. Benny was a high school teacher for 30 years and served as pastor of the Hoxie Christian Church for more than 24 years. He currently serves as the pastor of the Lone Star Church of the Brethren south of Lawrence, and enjoys bass fishing and substitute teaching.
Pat was a homemaker. She then worked as a preschool teacher in Hoxie and later in home-health care in Salina, after the couple moved there in 2000. She enjoys oil and watercolor painting and has displayed her artwork in various shows in Kansas.
The couple moved to Baldwin City in 2003 to be closer to their family, a son, Michael Rosell and wife Katy, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Yolanda Hargett and husband Cole, Olathe; and five grandchildren.
