Charles and Vera McHenry, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lawrence.
Charles McHenry and Vera Caylor were married Nov. 5, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan.
Charles retired from Western Union in Kansas City, Mo., after 31 years of service. Vera worked part time for K.C. Orthopedic Clinic in Kansas City, Mo., and retired in 1990. After they were married, they moved to Roeland Park, and later to Cabot, Ark., and to Lawrence in 2005.
They have two sons, Chris, Lawrence, and Glenn, Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Pamela Williams, Arkansas; five grandsons, Jacob, Christopher, Tyler, Kyle and Dylan McHenry; and five great-grandchildren.
Winerock and Wilmer
Susan Elkins and Jack Winerock, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Winerock, to Chris Wilmer, both of Chicago.
The future bride graduated from Lawrence High School in 1995, Princeton University in 1999, University of Sussex in 2003, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in British history at the University of Toronto.
The future groom is the son of Hanna Wilmer, Toronto, and Mirek Wilmer, Warsaw, Poland. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 2007 and is currently a Ph.D. student in chemical engineering at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
A 2010 wedding is planned in Toronto.
Snyder and Pearson
Amanda Snyder and Colby Pearson, both of Lawrence, were married July 25, 2009, in a garden wedding at the home of the groom’s parents, David and Jane Pearson, with the Rev. Merle Rothwell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of David and Janene Snyder, Eudora.
The groom is the son of David and Jane Pearson, Vinland.
Maid of honor was Brianna Parson. Best man was Nick Gaultney. Bridesmaids were Jessica and JoJo Snyder. Groomsmen were James Parson and Luke Carpenter. Flower girl was Abby Dunbar. Caterers were Joan Rothwell and Tracy Waring. Music was provided by Michael and Stephanie Gordon.
A reception followed at the home of the groom’s parents.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Jones and Emanuel
Helen Danielle Jones, Lawrence, and Drew Thomas Emanuel, North Bend, Neb., were married Sept. 26, 2009, at Christ Community Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. John Allen officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Tony Jones, Lawrence, and Deborah Boehle, Baldwin City.
The groom is the son of Roch and Diane Emanuel, North Bend.
Maid of honor was Tiffany Harris. Best man was Alex Emanuel. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Hartmann, Marrissa Robinson, Rita VonSeggern and Liz Hinkle. The bride is a 2000 graduate of The National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C., a 2004 graduate of Princeton University, and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School in 2009. She is a consultant with Angeles Investment Advisors LLC in Santa Monica, Calif.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence High School and is also a 2004 graduate of Princeton. He is studying for a Master of Business Administration degree at the Anderson Business School at UCLA.
The couple reside in Los Angeles.

The couple have been deployed to Afghanistan. Raelean is stationed in Kandahar province, and John is stationed in Zabul province.
Harold and Jeanne Longaker, Lawrence, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on Wednesday.
The couple were married Oct. 7, 1954, in Warrensburg, Mo.
Harold retired from the Topeka Police Department in 1976. Jeanne retired from the Kansas University Public Safety Office in 1992. She now works for Meals on Wheels.
They have four daughters, Vicki Lister and Debbie Dabney, both of Topeka, Valita Evans, New London, Mo., and Mary Bakken, Lawrence; a son, Mark Thurman, Meriden; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
