The couple plan a Dec. 9, 2009, wedding in Grand Cayman.

Wayne Hathaway and Maureen Mulally, Lawrence, and Kathie Hathaway, Ottawa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Andrea Hathaway, Overland Park, to Tyler Fredricks, Shawnee.
The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Ottawa High School. She attended Kansas University and Wichita State University and is a nationally certified pharmacy technician at Prescription Solutions in Overland Park.
The future groom is the son of Jeff Fredricks, Ottawa, and Jeri Kiefer, Lawrence. He is a 2003 graduate of Ottawa High and works at Gun-Ko Traffic Control in Olathe.
The couple plan a Sept. 18, 2010, wedding in South Park in Lawrence.

Steve and Lynn Scannell, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Scannell to Darryl Neufeld, both of Boulder, Colo.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Topeka High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in biological chemistry from Grinnell College in 2005. She is employed as a medical office manager.
The future groom is the son of Dan Neufeld, Vermillion, S.D., and Juliet Pattison, Yankton, S.D. He is a 2001 graduate of Vermillion High School and a earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Grinnell College in 2005. He is studying for a Masters of Education degree at the University of Colorado.
The couple plan a July 2010 wedding in Boulder.

Jeannie and Wilbur Henson
Jeannie and Wilbur Henson, Tonganoxie, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 31. with lunch at Famous Dave’s in Kansas City, Kan. About 50 friends and family attended the celebration.
Jeannie Kissinger and Wilbur Henson were married Oct. 31, 1959, at the home of Wilbur’s parents, Claude and Ethel Henson, in Lawrence.
Wilbur is retired from Southwestern Bell, now AT&T. He also served in the Navy from 1953-57. Jeannie is retired from the Kansas City, Kan., school system.
The couple also are active in farming and church. Wilbur is a Tonganoxie VFW Post 9201 member, while Jeannie is active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also is president of the Florence Riford Senior Center.
They have a son, James Henson, of Edwardsville.

Arden and Donna Burgess
Arden and Donna Burgess, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner today.
Arden Burgess and Donna Carpenter, were married Nov. 6, 1949, at Westside Presbyterian Church in Lawrence.
Arden attended Pittsburg State University. He later worked for two years as a linotype operator for the Marysville Advocate in Marysville. He then worked at the Lawrence Journal-World for 45 years, retiring in 1997. Donna graduated from Kansas University in 1947. She was employed by the Lawrence School District in food service for 15 years.
They have two daughters, Jeanne Johnson, Dayton, Ohio, and Leilani Burgess, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.

Shannon Marie Watson and Joel Benjamin Grillot, both of Lawrence, were married Oct. 17, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church in Independence, with the Rev. Robert Leiste officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dana and Julie Watson, Independence.
The groom is the son of Timothy and Janette Grillot, Parsons.
Matrons of honor were Courtney Nowak and Aindrea Scott. Best men were Thomas, Morgan, Nicholas and Jared Grillot. Bridesmaids were Michelle Hirschmann, Jessica Housley and Chelsea Taylor. Groomsmen were Aron and Brandon Taylor. Ushers were Jason Watson, Brian Thomas and Wes Carrillo. Personal attendant was Theresa Paulter. Ringbearer was Trey Kimzey. Flower girl was Katie Watson. Candlelighters were Winter and Heather Grillot. Gift attendants were Sarah and Tina Grillot. Guest book attendant was Leigha Jolly.
A reception was given at Independence Country Club in Independence.
The bride earned an associate degree from Independence Community College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She is a customer service representative at Lawrence Bank.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Parsons High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Newman University in Wichita, and a master’s degree in education from Kansas University. He is a paraeducator and the assistant volleyball coach at Free State High School.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
