Delmar and Evelyn Falen, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Wisconsin this month and later this summer with family in Estes Park, Colo.
Delmar Falen and Evelyn Pilkington were married June 28, 1959, at First Baptist Church in Parsons.
Delmar is a retired certified public accountant and owned his own business in Marysville for 35 years. Evelyn has a private piano studio and is an organist for First Baptist Church in Lawrence.
They have two daughters, Kyra Shimizu and husband Richard, Superior, Colo., and Shyla Strathman and husband Max, Lawrence; and five grandchildren.
Richard and Pat Rinke, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a private dinner this weekend.
The couple were married June 20, 1959, at the Holy Family Church in Eudora.
Richard worked for KP&L a few years prior to becoming an insurance agent for over 30 years. He also served as a long-time usher at Kansas University’s football and basketball games. Pat worked at TG&Y and K-Mart before becoming a homemaker and baby-sitter for her grandchildren.
They have two daughters, Kimberli Arndt and husband Mark, and Kristi Jorgensen and husband Dane; a son, Michael and wife Amy, all of Lawrence; and seven grandchildren.
Les and Jean Beguelin, Topeka, formerly of Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family on June 26.
Leslie Beguelin and Alice Jean Degner were married on June 26, 1949, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University.
The couple met while attending KU. Les graduated from KU’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in history. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the federal service (Navy, Air Force, Army, Post Office and the U.S. Department of Agriculture) in 1982. Jean attended KU’s School of Fine Arts. The couple lived in Lawrence until 2005 when they moved to Topeka.
They have two daughters, Kathryn Blosser, Topeka, and the late Russell Blosser; and Deborah Erhart and husband Jon, Dodge City; a son, Scott and wife Renee, Uvalde, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Norman and Marjorie Brammell, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 27 with an open house from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church West Campus, 867 U.S. Highway 40, in Lawrence.
The couple were married July 1, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa.
Norman taught high school for 30 years in Wellsville. Marjorie worked at the post office in Wellsville for 22 years before owning and operating Merle Norman Cosmetics in Lawrence for 14 years. They are both retired and live in Lawrence.
They have two daughters, Marianne Lyon and husband Larry, Chaska, Minn., and Sonja Merino and husband Fred, Olathe; and five grandchildren.
Wayne and Ruth Pine, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends Saturday and Sunday.
Wayne Pine and Ruth Kempter were married on June 17, 1949, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University.
They have two sons, Michael and wife Mary, Mulvane, and Kent, Baldwin City; and three grandchildren.
Davalos and Wainwright
Rose Mary Davalos, Hutchinson, along with Jack Wainwright, Sparks, Nev., and Cathy Wainwright, Biloxi, Miss., announce the engagement of their children, Sandra Davalos and Ken Wainwright, both of Eudora.
The future bride is also the daughter of the late Joe Davalos Jr. She is a graduate of Hutchinson High School, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree in education, and a Master of Science degree in education, all from Kansas University. She is employed by Lawrence public schools.
The future groom is a graduate of Edward C. Reed High School, Sparks, Nev., and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Master of Science degree in sports medicine from the University of Oregon, Eugene. He is employed by Kansas Athletics Inc.
The couple plan a July 24, 2009, wedding in Lawrence.
