Derek and Andie Nye
Andie Grasmick, Denver, and Derek Nye, Lawrence, were married Jan. 3, 2009, in Denver, with Seth Davidson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Stephen and Anne Grasmick, Denver. The groom is the son of Jim and Alison Nye, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Lauren Hughes. Best man was Greg Brinck. Bridesmaids were Sarah Jackson, Hannah Schultheis, Stephanie Grasmick and Katie Huff. Groomsmen were Matt Morrow-Howell, Pat Shehan, Ben Berning and Dustin Huff. Ringbearer was Jon Novorr. Flower girls were Carys Bayens and Brielle Bayens. Ushers were Jordan Guth, Ehren Feldmeyer and Ben Novorr.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Overland High School. She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in mathematics and political science from Kansas University in May.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in sport sciences from KU in 2008.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

The future bride is the daughter of John Selk and Christina Jordan, Lawrence. She is a 2003 graduate of Free State High School and is a technician at Sunflower Broadband.
The future groom is the son of Lora Lee Johnson, Lawrence, and the late Robert Johnson. He was home schooled and graduated in 2000 and is an installation supervisor at Sunflower Broadband.
The couple plan a May 30, 2009, wedding at the home of the bride’s parents in Lawrence.

Vance and Marsha Schwyhart, Lawrence, along with Terry and Shella Newell, Williamstown, and Jackie Wallace, Haverhill, England, announce the engagement of their children, Katie Schwyhart and James Newell, both of Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Johnson County Community College in 2006 and is employed by Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.
The future groom is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence High and is employed by Berry Plastics Corporation.
The couple plan a July 11, 2009, wedding at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Lawrence.

Brixey and Guilfoyle
Joshua Robert Guilfoyle and Amanda Lee Brixey
Kimberly Brixey, Tonganoxie, announces the engagement of her daughter Amanda Lee Brixey, Lawrence, to Joshua Robert Guilfoyle, Ottawa.
The future bride is also the daughter of the late Michael Thomas Brixey. She is a 2004 graduate of Basic Military Training at Fort Leonard Wood and a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended Johnson County Community College and earned a Kansas State First Responder certification. She is currently serving in the Army Reserves and is employed by the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department.
The future groom is the son of Donna Guilfoyle, Ottawa, and Frank and Tammy Guilfoyle, Richmond. He is a 2002 graduate of Ottawa High School. He is studying for a criminal justice degree at Penn Foster Community College and is employed by S&H Construction.
The couple plan an April 11, 2009, wedding in Tonganoxie.

Gary and Karen Vespestad, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Vespestad, to Shawn Ng, both of Mesa, Ariz.
The future bride is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School, a 2001 graduate of Kansas University, and a 2005 graduate of the University of Hawaii. She is a support operations manager at Avnet.
The future groom is the son of Siong Ng, Saltillo, Mexico, and Lily Yong, Leawood. He is a 1996 graduate of Blue Valley North High School and a 2001 graduate of KU. He is a consultant at Accenture.
The couple plan a Nov. 26, 2009, wedding at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
