Lowe and McCarthy
John McCarthy, Nortonville, and Catherine McCarthy, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelley McCarthy, to Eric Lowe, both of Lawrence. Eric is the son of Garry and Dana Lowe, Mulvane.
The future bride earned an anthropology degree from Kansas University in 2005. She is a graduate student at the university. She is employed with Community Children's Center Head Start in Lawrence.
The future groom earned a sociology degree from KU. He is employed with Children's Learning Center in Lawrence.
The couple plan an Oct. 4, 2008, wedding at KU's Danforth Chapel.

Baker and Sanford
Terry and Karen Sanford announce the engagement of their daughter, Kourtney Klaira Sanford, all of Lecompton, to Casey Wayne Baker, Lawrence. Casey is the son of Ronald and Kathryn Baker, Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2006 graduate of Perry Lecompton High School. She is employed with Willowridge Landscape Inc. in Lawrence.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is employed with his family's business, Willowridge Landscape Inc.
The couple plan an Oct. 25, 2008, wedding at Lecompton United Methodist Church.

Peltier
Jennifer Shaw, Lawrence, and Tim Peltier, Two Rivers, Wis., were married March 22, 2008, at Danforth Chapel on the Kansas University campus, with the Rev. Sharon Gervasoni officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Arthur Shaw, Lawrence, and Sandra Shaw and Doug Witt, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Charles and Rita Peltier, Phoenix.
Maid of honor was Sandra Shaw, the bride's mother. Best man was Luke Middle. Flower girls were Kiana Fen and Haley Fen. Ring bearers were Christopher Renzi, Joseph Parker and Jamil Fen. Reader was McCall Fen. Singers were Allie Fen and Beth Hagen. Allie Fen also played the guitar. Ushers were Aaron Shaw-Bobrow and Casey Shaw.
A reception followed at the Eldridge Hotel.
The bride is a 1988 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and psychology from Mount Holyoke College in 1993. She earned a Master of Arts degree in anthropology from KU in 1999. She is completing doctoral research in cultural anthropology in southwest Alaska through Case Western Reserve University.
The groom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology from Colorado State University in 1992. He earned a Master of Science degree in wildlife biology from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks in 2003. He is an assistant area biologist with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
The couple reside in Wasilla, Alaska.
Wedding
Montgomery
Tina Lencioni, Plymouth, Ill., and Matt Montgomery, Eudora, were married July 27, 2008, at Christian Calvary Motorcycle Ministries, in Grantville, with the Rev. Beaux Bryant officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Lozelle and Clara Mustard, Macomb, Ill.
The groom is the son of Bill Gensler, Vinland, and the late Dorothy Gensler.
Best man was Bill Gensler, the groom's father. Bridesmaids were Jenny Akers and Heather Akers. Groomsman was Scott Montgomery. Flower girl was Angel Akers. Cliff Akers and Doug Akers, sons of the bride, walked their mother down the aisle. Groom attendants were Missy Arnet, Carl Arnet, Nancy Strain and Michael Strain. Wedding cakes were made by Kristie Durone. Photographers were Richard and Wanda Mustard. Dinner was provided by the Christian Calvary Riders.
A reception was given at the Grantville Community Center.
The bride is a graduate of Plymouth High School. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Johnson County Community College. She is the co-owner of DC Custom Crafted Cycles in Eudora.
The groom is a graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a technical degree from John Deere. He is the owner of DC Custom Crafted Cycles.
The couple reside in Eudora.
Anniversary
Gillihan
Don and Kathy Gillihan
Don and Kathy Gillihan, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family celebration Sunday at the Eldridge Hotel.
Don Gillihan and Kathy Solomon were married Sept. 3, 1958, in Howard.
Don served as corporal in the United States Army 2nd Division during the Korean War. He worked for 30 years at Dupont/Flexel before retiring in 1990.
Kathy was a special education paraprofessional at Cordley and Hillcrest Schools in Lawrence for 15 years. She also retired in 1990.
They have two sons, Steve Huffman and wife Patsy, and Mark Gillihan and wife Kathleen, all of Lawrence; and four grandchildren.
Anniversary

Jay and Barbara Saner
Jay and Barbara Saner, Wellsville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Ottawa Country Club, 1001 E. Logan.
Jay Saner and Barbara Booth were married April 6, 1958, in Wellsville.
They have one daughter, Susan Saner Davenport, Scottsdale, Ariz.
The couple request no gifts.
