Engagement, wedding and anniversary announcements



Kenneth and Barbara Bishop, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to their honeymoon location, the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan.
Kenneth A. Bishop and Barbara Millar were married Sept. 7, 1957, at the First Congregational Church in LaGrange, Ill.
Kenneth is a professor emeritus in Kansas University's department of chemical and petroleum engineering.
They have lived in Lawrence for 42 years.
Their daughter, Susie McKinney, and her husband, Scott, joined the Bishops on their trip, along with the McKinney's four children, Kaitlin, Keegan, Logan and Liam.


Graves and Jewell

Darryl and Karyl Graves announce the engagement of their son, Cody Graves, to Jessica Jewell, all of Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence High School. She is employed at Adorable Animal Designs in Topeka.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of McLouth High School. He is employed by Allen Press Inc.
The couple plan a June 7, 2008, wedding at Heartland Church in Lawrence.


Christie and Dodge

Ray and Dana Dodge, Garden City, and Ron and Cindy Christie, Colorado Springs, Colo., announce the engagement of their children, Carly Dodge and Geoffrey Christie, both of Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Garden City High School and is pursuing a degree in nursing at Washburn University.
The future groom is a 2004 graduate of Doherty High School in Colorado Springs and is pursuing a culinary arts degree. He is employed by Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence.
The couple plan an Oct. 6, 2007, wedding at First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence.



Larissa Johnson and Brent Edmonds were married June 2, 2007, at Buford M. Watson Jr. Park in Lawrence, with Rob Bolt officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Martin Johnson and Janice Johnson, both of Lawrence. The groom is the son of Rick and Glenna Edmonds, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Kristina Johnson. Best man was Danny Sinn. Bridesmaids were Megan Cooper and Andrea Ahrens. Groomsmen were Brandon Willems and Josh Smith.
Junior bridesmaids were Brianna Johnson and Taylor Moldenhauer. Junior groomsman was Matt Johnson. Ring bearer was Conner Johnson. Flower girl was Ashleigh Lennamon.
A reception was given at Abe & Jake's Landing.
Larissa graduated from Lawrence High School in 2002 and from the Baker University School of Nursing in 2006. She is employed as a registered nurse at Olathe Medical Center.
Brent graduated from LHS in 2000. He is employed as an engineer for Johnson Controls at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
The couple reside in Eudora.



Rachel E. Munoz and Thomas B. Illingsworth were married Aug. 4, 2007, in Sudbury, Mass., with Richard Griesel officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Gayle E. Tennyson, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Ronald and Maureen Illingsworth, Orange, Mass.
Rachel graduated from Lawrence High School in 1994 and is an attorney with Sandulli Grace P.C. in Boston. The groom graduated from West Springfield High School in 1993. He is senior construction estimator for P.J. Keating Corp. in Lunenburg, Mass.
The couple reside in Somerville, Mass.



Ashley Lynn Pool and Dane Christian Bryan were married Aug. 21, 2007, in Lawrence, with Judge Pro Tem Peggy Kittel officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Deborah Rizzo, Eudora. The groom is the son of Cassie Campbell, Abilene, and the late Patrick Bryan, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn.
The maid of honor was Mary Brune. Best man was Steve Martin.
Ashley graduated from Vernon Township High School in Vernon, N.J., and attended Rutgers University. She is employed by Reece & Nichols Premier Realty.
Dane graduated from Junction City High School and is employed at Chipotle.
The couple reside in Lawrence.



Trina Jo Ramirez and Sean Michael Mawhirter were married Aug. 11, 2007, at the South Park gazebo, with Rikki Kite officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Anthony R. Ramirez, Law-rence, and the late Frances Jeannotte Ramirez. The groom is the son of Michael R. and Ann Mawhirter, Derby.
The matron of honor was Toni Ramirez Wheeler. Best man was Guy Montes. Flower girls were Gabrielle Wheeler, Inila Brave, Mia Ramirez and Arianna Wilke. Ring bearers were Joao Ramirez and Cole Wheeler. Readers were Laurie Ramirez and Lisa Morgan. Greeters were Chelsea Morgan, Bailey Scott and Connor Scott.
Site stylist was Nicole Ramirez. Sarah Ramirez and Frances Wenger Ramirez were the bride's personal assistants.
A reception was given at Maceli's.
Trina graduated from Horton High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies and a Master of Science in education from Kansas University. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration at Iowa State University.
Sean attended KU and is employed at R.H. Donnelley.
The couple reside in Ames, Iowa.
