Ashley Renee Butell and Shaun Ward Smiley, both of Kansas City, Mo., announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Marcia Butell, Lawrence, and Leo and Krystal Butell, Baldwin.
The future groom is the son of Barbara Smiley, Hays, and the late Robert Smiley.
Ashley is a 1999 graduate of Baldwin High School. She attended Johnson County Community College and the Lawrence Beauty Academy. She is manager and stylist at the Fix Salon.
Shaun is a 1999 graduate of Norton Community High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Fort Hays State University. He is assistant vice president and loan officer at Northland National Bank, Gladstone, Mo.
The couple plan a Nov. 11, 2006, wedding at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.

Dwane and Sandy Biggerstaff, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their son, Charlie, Joplin, Mo., to Shannon Smith, Joplin, daughter of Don and Stacy Smith, Salem, Mo.
The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Salem High School. She plans to earn a degree in elementary education in December from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School and plans to graduate in December from the fire academy at Missouri Southern. He works as assistant store manager at Food 4 Less in Joplin.
The couple plan a Jan. 27, 2007, wedding in Salem.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Broadwater High School in Townsend and works at Espress Yourself Coffee House in Baldwin.
The future groom is a graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School and is a senior at Baker University.
The couple plan a July 21, 2007, wedding at Trails Head Christian Church in Townsend.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Galen Johnson, Lindsborg, and Susan Johnson, Moundridge.
The future groom is the son of Jarold Rasmusson and Carole Rasmusson, both of Lindsborg.
Holly graduated from Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg in 1999. She earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology in 2005 from Kansas University.
Erik graduated from Smoky Valley High School in 2000 and plans to receive a bachelor's degree in community health this winter from Kansas University.
The couple plan an October 2007 wedding in Lindsborg.

Dr. Greg and Linda Schnose, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina M. Schnose, Wichita, to Luis D. Salazar, Wichita, son of Jose and Cathy Salazar, Huntington, Ind.
The bride-to-be is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School and received a bachelor's degree in biology in 2002 from Kansas University. She is a fourth-year medical student at the KU School of Medicine.
The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Huntington North High School. He received a bachelor's degree in biology and a business certificate in 2001 from Indiana University, Bloomington. He earned a master's degree in medical science in 2003 from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is a fourth-year medical student at the KU School of Medicine.
The couple plan a May 26, 2007, wedding at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.

Virginia and William Harris

William and Virginia Harris, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at their home.
They were married Oct. 24, 1946, at St. Patrick's Church in La Junta, Colo., and have lived in Lawrence since 1958.
Bill was superintendent of the heating and air conditioning division at Huxtable & Associates. Virginia was a community volunteer.
Their children are Terry Harris, Elizabeth, Colo.; Steve and Trina Burzinski, Parsons; Therese Seward, Overland Park; Tom and Toni Neilon, and Sgt. Michael and Trudi Aikins, all of Olathe; and Tom Harris and Earl and Tammie Reineman, all of Lawrence.
They have 16 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Anniversary

Orr

Robert and Linda Traxler Orr, Linwood, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
They previously celebrated with friends on a nine-day cruise in October in New England and Canada.
They were married Nov. 5, 1966, in Perry.
Robert worked as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970, and in Olathe until 1981. He has worked as a letter carrier for the Lawrence Post Office since 1984.
Linda has operated a day care in their home for more than 30 years.
The couple formerly lived in Eudora.
They have three sons, David, Eudora, Steeven, Lecompton, and Michael, Linwood; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

April Graves and Damian Levings were married Sept. 2, 2006, at Steve's Place in Lawrence.
The bride is the daughter of Perry and Gloria Graves, Lawrence. The groom is the son of David and Christy Levings, Paola.
The maid of honor was Kathleen Alderson. The best man was Jay Chugden. The bridesmaids were Abby Chugden and Tracey Alderson. The groomsmen were Jered Nunn and Travis Alderson.
The ushers were Jason Buckman and Jason Shears. The flower girls were Nola Levings and Ella Denson-Redding. The ring bearer was Brennan O'Neil.
A reception followed at Steve's Place.
April attended Lawrence High School and received a GED in 1999. She is a senior at Haskell Indian Nations University and works at Sunflower Broadband.
Damian attended Paola High School and works as a union carpenter in the Kansas City area.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Jerold and Judith Wilson, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Kevin and Lori Norman, Wichita.
The maid of honor was Amy Whitson. The best man was Zach Johnson. The groomsman was Jason Palikij. The ring bearer was Colin Howton. The flower girl was Kallie Norman. The candlelighter was Peydon Church. The ushers were Kasey Norman, Terren King, Dakota King and Brady King.
A reception was given at the Adams Alumni Center.
The bride graduated from Lawrence High School and Kansas University. She works at Experian in Lawrence.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Wichita North High School and graduated from Kansas University. He works at JB Stouts.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Kirk and Denise Sours, Linwood. The groom is the son of Merlin and Shirley Kuder, Minneapolis, Kan.
The maid of honor was Catelin Cunningham. The best man was Kevin Kuder. The bridesmaids were Erin Sours, Laura Moore, Callie Stephens and Carrie Dunham. The groomsmen were Andy Kuder, Steven Kuder, Merlin Kuder and Jesse Sours.
The ushers were Michael Barnes and Johnny Smith. The candlelighters were Karah Spearman and Isaac Kuder. The ring bearers were Devon Spearman and Scott Kuder. The flower girls were Katelynn Kuder and Sarah Kuder. The bridal attendants were Samantha Kuder and Kylie Wood. The soloist was Brook Helton. The pianist was Stephanie Reynolds. A reception followed at the church.
Layci is majoring in recreation at Emporia State University and works at Camp Alexander. Bryan is a pre-optometry student at Emporia State and works at Flint Hills Eye Care.
The couple reside in Emporia.

The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Lansing High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in organismal biology in 2005 from Kansas University. He is a substitute teacher.
