Larissa Johnson and Brent Edmonds

Martin and Janice Johnson, Lawrence, and Rick and Glenna Edmonds, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their children, Larissa Johnson and Brent Edmonds, both of Lawrence.
The bride-to-be is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School. She plans to graduate in December from Baker University School of Nursing with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She works at Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. and Hospice.
The future groom is a 2000 graduate of LHS. He is employed by Johnson Controls and works at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
The couple plan a June 2, 2007, wedding at Buford M. Watson Jr. Park in Lawrence.


Toner and Van Saun

Ryan Toner and Kristen Van Saun

Paul and Debbie Van Saun, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Van Saun, Lawrence, to Ryan Toner, Lawrence, son of Bob and Kathleen Toner, Geneva, N.Y.
The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a bachelor's degree in finance in 2001 from the University of Notre Dame. She earned a juris doctorate in 2006 from Kansas University School of Law. In August, she will be a law clerk to Chief Judge John W. Lungstrum of the U.S. District Court, District of Kansas, in Kansas City, Kan. She is the granddaughter of Gean Herd, Lawrence, and Ann Van Saun, Hawthorne, N.J.
The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Geneva High School. He received a bachelor's degree in finance in 2001 from the University of Notre Dame. He is an accountant at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America in Lawrence. He is the grandson of Bill Toner, Geneva, N.Y.
The couple plan a Sept. 30, 2006, wedding in Lawrence.


Eagan and McClure

Michael Eagan and Jennifer McClure

Jennifer Anne McClure and Michael James Eagan, both of San Diego, announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Garland McClure, Orinda, Calif., and the late Eileen McClure. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1997. She is employed with Avnet Electronics Marketing in San Diego as an executive assistant.
The future groom is the son of Linda Eagan and Jim Eagan, both of Lawrence. He is a 1989 graduate of Lawrence High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in cognitive science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. He is an independent software consultant.
The couple plan an Aug. 12, 2006, wedding at the Four Seasons Resort in San Diego.



Janice and Donald Conrad

The Rev. Donald and Janice Conrad, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Hosts will be their children.

Don Conrad and Janice Young were married July 7, 1956, at First Lutheran Church in Jamestown, N.Y.

Don graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., and Augustana Theological Seminary in Rock Island, Ill. Janice graduated from Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, N.Y., and Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. She earned a master's degree at Kansas University.

Don served parishes in Bemidji, Minn., and Lindsborg. He served as Lutheran campus pastor at KU for 27 years before retiring in 1992. After retirement, he has filled in for pastoral vacancies in churches in the Kansas City area, Topeka, Wichita and Emporia. Janice was a teacher in the Lawrence schools for 12 years and worked part time at KU.

Their children are David and Pollyann Conrad, Olathe; Julie and Harmon Abrahamson, Grand Forks, N.D.; Anne and Alan Hagemen, Topeka; and the Rev. John and Ellen Conrad, Redondo Beach, Calif. They have 12 grandchildren.



Alois "Bud" and Marcella Madl

Alois "Bud" and Marcella Madl, Baldwin, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a small family dinner followed by a reception and open house from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of Dale and Phylis Schwarz, Baldwin.

Alois J. Madl and Marcella Ann Brecheisen were married July 9, 1946, at Holy Family Parish in Eudora.
The reception will be hosted by their five daughters, Phylis Schwarz, Velma Rippetoe, Betty Tuckel, Mary Moore and Edie Willis.



Russell Iversen and Bethany Anstaett Iversen

Bethany Lynn Anstaett and Russell Colby Iversen were married May 13, 2006, in the Ensley Botanical Garden in Topeka with the Rev. Shannon Savoie officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Doug and Lucinda Anstaett, Topeka. The groom is the son of Earl and Susan Iversen, Lawrence.

Grandparents of the couple are Delores Anstaett, Lyndon; Janis and Richard Mickelson, Lyndon; Gabrielle MacHattie, Denver; and Edith Iversen, Lawrence.

The bride was escorted by her father. Maid of honor was Ashley Anstaett. Best man was Sean Barger.

Bridesmaids were Megan Sullivan and Brandy Lancaster and groomsmen were Nathan Atchison and Jesse Fitzpatrick. Ushers were Eric Gordon, Chris Mickelson and Dusty Mickelson. Kacie Doll was greeter and guest book attendant.

Flowers at the wedding and reception were arranged by Gabrielle Iversen. Chris Beck provided special guitar and vocal music before and during the ceremony.

A reception, dinner and dance followed at the Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to the boundary waters in northern Minnesota.

The bride is a 1996 graduate of Newton High School. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics in 2000 from Kansas University. She will teach art at Hillcrest School this fall.

The groom is a 1996 graduate of Lawrence High School and is on the management team at Free State Brewing Co. in Lawrence.

The couple reside in Lawrence.


Ricketts and Crane

Gene and Hideko Crane, Tokyo, and Tim and Becky Ricketts, Osawatomie, announce the engagement of their children, Erika Crane and Marc Ricketts.

The bride-to-be is a Tokyo native and graduated from The International School of the Sacred Heart in 2000. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from Kansas University in 2005. She is a performing member of the CLIMB Educational Theatre Troupe in St. Paul, Minn.

The future groom is a native of Osawatomie. He graduated from Osawatomie High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism in 2004 from KU. He is employed at Express Scripts in Minneapolis, Minn.

The couple plan a Sept. 30, 2006, wedding at Danforth Chapel on KU's campus.
