The bride-to-be is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2003 from Kansas University. She is an auditor for the State of Kansas.

The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Hutchinson High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000 and a juris doctorate in 2004 from KU. He is a research lawyer for Johnson County District Court.

The couple plan an April 30, 2006, wedding at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is a 1998 graduate of Halstead High School. She received bachelor's degrees in business administration and accounting and a master's degree in accounting and information systems from Kansas University. She works in the finance department of Payless ShoeSource Inc. in Topeka.

The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. He received bachelor's degrees in business administration and accounting and a master's degree in accounting and information systems from KU. He works in the accounting department of RD Johnson Excavating in Lawrence.

The couple plan an April 22, 2006, wedding at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is a 1994 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Principia College in 1998 from Elsah, Ill. She teaches fourth grade in Bethel, Alaska.

The future groom is a former sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corp. He served with the 2nd Force Recon. He has taught preschool in Bethel, Alaska. He is a dog musher and trapper.

The couple plan a Jan. 20, 2006, wedding in Bethel, Alaska, and a May 28, 2006, wedding in Eudora.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Susan and John Esau, Lawrence, and Don and Sherry Babcock, Cape Girardeau, Mo. She is a 1999 graduate of Free State High School. She plans to graduate in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Kansas University. She is a staff accountant at The McFadden Group LLC in Lawrence.

The future groom is the son of Bill Breshears and Sandra Breshears, both of Lawrence. He is a 1995 graduate of Lawrence High School. He attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, where he played baseball. He is self-employed as a finish carpenter in Lawrence.

The couple plan a May 2006 wedding in Mexico. Hosts will be the couple's parents and Stan Hazlett, Lawrence.

A reception will follow in Lawrence.

The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Baldwin High School. He received a Bachelor of General Studies degree in creative writing in 2001 and a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 2004 from KU. He teaches creative writing and junior English at Tonganoxie High School.

The couple plan a July 22, 2006, wedding at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.

Rachel Wells and Gunar Harmon were married July 2, 2005, in Danforth Chapel on Kansas University's campus in Lawrence with the Rev. Canon Jonathon Jensen officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Robert Wells and Pam Bryan, both of Garden City. The groom is the son of Herbert Harmon, Silver City, N.M., and Mittie Beth Decter, Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Maids of honor were Melissa Nowak and Suzanne Maestas. Best men were Sven Toothman and Brandon Porter.

Ushers were Ryan Bird and Jake Sprenkle. Flower girl was Haley Sprenkle. Reader was Michelle Huslig Lowrance. Cordelia Brown and Larry Carter were musicians.

A reception was given at Teller's in downtown Lawrence.

The bride is a 1993 graduate of Holcomb High School. She graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor of Science degree in genetics in May 1999. She is employed at the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

The groom is a 1986 graduate of Kaiserslautern American High School, Kaiserslautern, Germany. He is employed as the head soccer coach at Bishop Seabury Academy and as an office coordinator for Kaw Valley Soccer Assn.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Janel Failer and Ronald Hurd were married Nov. 12, 2005, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry with the Rev. George Seuferling officiating.

The bride is the daughter of James Failer, Silver Lake, and Brenda Robb, Rossville. The groom is the son of Roy and Ann Hurd, Perry.

Matron of honor was Heather Holmes. Best man was Michael Hurd. Flower girl was Clara Mowder. Guest book attendants were Gregory Gast and Allison Mowder. Musician was Tammy Gabriel. Videographer was Tamara Young. Steve Rose was photographer.

A reception was given at the Perry American Legion.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Perry Lecompton High School. She is customer service representative for Amarr Garage Doors in Lawrence.

The groom is a 1988 graduate of Perry Lecompton High School. He farms for a family-owned farm.

The couple reside in Perry.

Anniversary

Metsker

John and Bettie-Lou Metsker

John and Bettie-Lou Metsker, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house and reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wingert's Barn, 693 E. 1250 Road in Lawrence.

John Phillip Metsker and Bettie-Lou Grant were married Nov. 18, 1945, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence. They lived their married life south of Lone Star on the family farm.

He is a retired refrigeration engineer and worked for Sunflower Army Ammunition plant and Truman Medical Center. She retired as secretary to the purchasing agent at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Reception hosts will be their children: Andy and Deb Metsker, Leavenworth; Phillip Metsker, Lawrence; Margaret and Kermit Kalb, Wellsville; David and LuAnn Metsker, Lawrence; and Merry and Brad Wilde, Overbrook. A daughter, Barbara, died earlier. They have 13 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They request no gifts.
