Guntert

Wilma and Emil R. Guntert

Emil R. and Wilma Guntert, rural Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an open house for family and friends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at their home, 759 E. 1485 Road. Hosts will be Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Guntert.

Emil Guntert and Wilma Cunningham were married June 19, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Emil retired in 1992 as traffic manager for Lawrence Paper Co. Wilma retired in 1990 as treasurer and manager of Jayhawk Federal Credit Union.

They have a son, Emil G. Guntert, Baldwin.

Anniversary

Stauffer

Dennis and Mary Stauffer, Eureka, celebrated their 40th anniversary Sunday with a family barbecue and party given by their children.

They were married June 12, 1965, in Lecompton.

Dennis is retired from a career as a teacher, counselor and coach. Mary is retired from a career in health care.

Their children are Lori and Bob Gruver, Centropolis, Beverly Wells, Lecompton, and D.J. and Nicole Stauffer, Wichita. They also have 10 grandchildren.

Douglas and Virginia Beene

Virginia and Douglas Beene, rural Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a family retreat later this summer in Colorado.

They were married June 19, 1955, in Dodge City.

Doug retired in 2002 after 46 years with the Kansas Geological Survey. He also has been the official scorer for Kansas University basketball for the last 35 years. Ginny has been active as a volunteer and staff person at churches in Lawrence.

Their children are Carolyn Johannsen, Bemidji, Minn., Sharon Gardner, London, Leslie Ahlert, Lawrence, and Steve Beene, Olathe. They also have 10 grandchildren.

Hilary and Trent Nauholz

Hilary Hanson and Trent Nauholz, both of Lawrence, were married Sept. 18, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Sharon Howell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Linda Hanson and Scot Beckenbaugh and Bert and Nancy Hanson, all of Indianola, Iowa. The groom is the son of Carolyn and Bill Nauholz, Sumer, Iowa.

Hayley Hanson was matron of honor. Tonja Johnson, Lori Horn, Robyn Friedman and Jolene Westwick were bridesmaids. Matt Lohmann and Steve Chapman were best men. Dave Hassman, Travis Seehase and Tyson Seehase were groomsmen.

Flower girls were Bailey Hassman and Louisa Judge. Ring bearers were Jacob Green and Will Greenwood. Candle lighters were Morgan Hassman and Madeline Judge.

A reception followed the ceremony at Alvamar Country Club.

The bride works for Payless ShoeSource Inc. The groom works for Heartland Crop Insurance in Topeka.

The couple live in Lawrence.

Loralea Hubert and Nicholas Wood

Greg and Brenda Hubert, Oakley, and Steve and Sheri Wood, Parkville, Mo., announce the engagement of their children, Loralea Yvonne Hubert, Oakley, and Nicholas James Wood, Manhattan.

The future bride graduated from Oakley High School and received a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders from Kansas State University.

The future groom graduated from Lawrence High School. He received a bachelor's degree in business from Baker University and a master's degree in sports administration from K-State. He is a sales representative at GTM in Manhattan.

The couple plan a July 22 wedding at First Lutheran Church in Manhattan.

Leo and Teresa Schwartz

Leo and Teresa Schwartz celebrated their 50th anniversary at an April 16 dinner hosted by their children and grandchildren.

They were married June 18, 1955, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.

Their children are Andy Schwartz, Lawrence, Richard Schwartz, New York, Ana Maas, Topeka, and Anita Schwartz, Topeka.

They also have two grandchildren.

William and Mary Ann Roberts

William A. and Mary Ann Roberts, Kettering, Ohio, celebrated their 50th anniversary with friends and family at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering.

They were married June 26, 1955.

William is past president of Dorwood Optimist Club and graduated from the Kansas University School of Business. Mary Ann graduated from Lawrence High School.

They have four children, Wes, San Antonio, Russ, Waukesha, Wis., Craig, Cincinnati, and Lisa Francis, Kettering; and six grandchildren.

The future bride graduated in 2001 from Carrollton Creek View High School. She received a bachelor's degree in theater in May from the University of Evansville in Illinois. She works at the law firm of David Boucher in Denton, Texas.

The future groom graduated in 2000 from Baldwin High School. He received a bachelor's degree in business in 2004 from Baker University. He is pursuing a juris doctorate at Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

The couple will be married June 25 at Annabelle Mansion in Burleson, Texas.

Fleda and Alfred Yost

Fleda Ann "Shorty" and Alfred J. Yost of Lawrence celebrated their 50th anniversary June 5 in Branson, Mo.

Their children, Dr. Brad and Kimla Yost and Bart and Georgette Yost, and grandchildren hosted a surprise wedding vow renewal ceremony on the grounds of Big Cedar Lodge, followed by a dinner.

The couple owned and operated Yost Funeral Service for 13 years in Wellington before moving in 1978 to

Lawrence, where they own Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The future groom is the son of Tom Riffel, McDonough, Ga., and Kaylene (Liston) Miller, Granby, Colo., both formerly of Junction City. He attended Kansas State University and Johnson County Community College. He is employed by Jay Turnbull of Lawrence as a full-time caregiver.

The future groom graduated in 2001 from LHS. He received a degree in networking and communication administration in 2004 from DeVry University and is a builder for Wedman Construction.

The future bride graduated in 2000 from Marion High School. She received a bachelor's degree in agriculture, with a major in horticulture therapy, in December 2004 from Kansas State University. She is a horticultural therapist in Kansas City, Mo.

The future groom graduated in 2000 from Free State High School. He received a bachelor's degree in agriculture, with a major in horticulture and emphasis in greenhouse management, in May from K-State.

The couple plan an Aug. 13 wedding at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pilsen.

The future groom graduated in 2002 from LHS. He is a senior at Baker University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. He plans to attend medical school.
