Henry and Maxine Loewenstein, Eudora, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family barbecue on Sunday.
Henry Loewenstein and Maxine Evilsizor were married Aug. 7, 1955, at First Christian Church in Lawrence.
Henry works for Allen Press Inc. Maxine is a homemaker.
The couple's children are Pamela and Danny LeRow, Eudora; Jeannene Loewenstein, Lawrence; and Chris and Melissa Loewenstein, Lawrence. They have two grandsons, three stepgranddaughters and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

She received a Master of Business Administration in 2005 from the University of Denver. She is a published author.
The future groom is a 1999 Olathe South High School graduate. He received a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 2003 and a Master of Science in education in 2004 from KU. He is a second-year law student at KU, where he was co-captain of the football team and member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
The couple plan an Oct. 15 wedding at the Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Mo.

Lyle and Lois Brubaker, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Brubaker-Hodges family reunion.
Lyle Brubaker and Lois Cook were married Aug. 5, 1955, in Ottawa.
Lois worked for KPS for many years and retired from Cottonwood Inc.
Lyle retired from Associated Wholesale Grocers in Kansas City.
Their children are Shari and Dennis Meyer, Lawrence, and Terry and Patty Brubaker, Oskaloosa. They have four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Paul Johnston and Evelyn Griffith were married Aug. 7, 1955, at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.
Paul is retired from Farmland Industries, and Evelyn is retired from USD 497.
