Nutritionist to offer tips heading into holidays

Susan Krumm, nutrition and wellness educator with K-State Research and Extension — Douglas County, will be available Monday to answer questions as we enter the calorie-laden holiday season. Krumm also is spearheading a workplace wellness program. She can answer questions about cooking, healthy eating, exercise, workplace wellness, holiday stress, and more.

LMH educator to discuss smoking cessation

The 35th Great American Smokeout is Nov. 18. The American Cancer Society encourages smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. Aynsley Anderson, community education coordinator for Lawrence Memorial Hospital, teaches smoking cessation classes, and she is ready to help smokers kick the habit.

Bert Nash leaders to discuss mental health

Thursday, November 11, 2010, 11:00 a.m.

A trio of leaders from Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center will be available Thursday to answer questions about the center and mental health. Pat Roach Smith, chief operations officer; Eunice Ruttinger, director of Adult Services; and Janice Storey, director of Children and Family Services, will be participating in an online chat at 11 a.m. Thursday on Bert Nash provides services for about 6,000 Douglas County residents each year.
