Boyd

A reception is planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall at Baldwin City First United Methodist Church to celebrate the 40th anniversaries of Martin and Barbara Pressgrove and Roger and Jan Boyd. The reception is being hosted by both couples’ children, David Pressgrove and wife Jennifer, Michelle Pressgrove, and Jon Boyd and wife Mary.
The couples were married in a double-ring ceremony on Aug. 8, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church. Barbara and Roger are siblings.
Martin Pressgrove recently retired as a paraprofessional at Baldwin High School. Barbara Pressgrove retired as school librarian at Perry-Lecompton High School.
Roger Boyd is a professor emeritus at Baker University and director of the Baker Natural Areas. Jan Boyd retired as a librarian at Baker.
The couples request no gifts.

Jacob Albers and Andie Kay

Tom and Julie Albers announce the engagement of their son, Jacob Albers, to Andie Kay, all of Lawrence.
The future bride is the daughter of Jim and Lisa Polaski, McLouth. She is a 2002 graduate of Atchison High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communication from Kansas University in 2006, and a master’s degree in marketing in May.
The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration, both from KU, in 2004.
The couple plan a Nov. 19, 2010, wedding in downtown Kansas City, Mo.

Matthew and Rachel Habiger

Rachel Belden, Wichita, and Matthew Habiger, Lawrence, were married May 22, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ashland, with Matthew’s uncle, the Rev. Matthew Habiger, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Judith Hutton, Wichita, and Brian Belden, Lyons.
The groom is the son of Benedict and Barbara Habiger, Lawrence.
Matron of honor was Erika Calloway. Best man was Aaron Wiley. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Jourden, Jamie Brown and Taylor Hutton. Groomsmen were Derek Moore, Jed Baughman and Jerome Berryman. Flower girl was Emilia Berryman. Lector was Benedict Habiger. Ushers were Cameron Belden and Jeremy Fast.
A reception was given at the Hardesty House.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita. She attended Emporia State University and is employed at Ashland High School.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 2006 graduate of Kansas University. He is a painting contractor and owner of Mattoast Painting and Studio in Ashland.
The couple reside in Ashland.

Samuel and Anne Rinearson

Anne Dinsdale, Lawrence, and Samuel Rinearson, Olathe, were married June 5, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. William Vogler officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Katherine Dinsdale, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Dave and LeAnne Rinearson, Olathe.
Maid of honor was Carolyn Dinsdale. Best man was Patrick Rinearson. Bridesmaids were Sarah Stanhope, Molly Flavin, Christy Allen and Bethany Campbell. Groomsmen were Michael Lunsford, Chris Morrill, James Woody and Rawley Stanhope.
A reception was given at Abe and Jake’s Landing.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in family studies from Kansas State University in May 2008, a master’s degree in college student personnel from KSU in May, and is a residence director at Belmont University.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Olathe East High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from KSU in December 2008 and is employed at Gibson Guitar Company.
The couple reside in Nashville, Tenn.

Anniversary

Bertha and John Nelson

Bertha and John Nelson, lifetime residents of Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner in July.
The couple were married Aug. 7, 1950, by the Rev. A.L. Parker.
John is a U.S. Army veteran and served in the 2nd Division as a military police officer during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He is now retired after more than 40 years of service as an automobile mechanic. John is a member of the First Regular Missionary Baptist Church in Lawrence and serves on the Deacon Board. He enjoys gospel music and singing with the Male Chorus at First Regular.
Bertha is a retired homemaker and has spent the majority of her life caring for her family and grandchildren. She’s also a member of the First Regular Missionary Baptist Church, where she’s a member of the Missionary Auxiliary, Sewing Circle and the Deaconess Board.
They have five children, Mark Nelson, Cindy Nelson and Timothy Nelson, all of Lawrence, Diana Brown, Baton Rouge, La., and Teresa Denson, Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
