The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2001 from Kansas State University. She earned a master's degree in education in 2005 from MidAmerica Nazarene University. She is working on a master's degree in special education at Kansas University.
She teaches second grade in the Blue Valley School District.

The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Lee's Summit North High School. He received bachelor's degrees in elementary education and liberal arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He earned a master's degree in education in 2004 from the University of Missouri. He teaches eighth-grade American history in Lee's Summit, Mo.

The couple plan a Nov. 4, 2006, wedding in Lawrence.

The future groom is the son of John and Jeanette St. Julien, Junction City. He grew up in Junction City.

The bride-to-be is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School and graduated from Kansas University in art and design in 2004. She is employed as a designer at Hallmark Cards.

The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School and graduated in 2003 from Pittsburg State University. He is employed as a senior service adviser at Baron BMW.

The couple plan a Jan. 20, 2007, wedding at Danforth Chapel on Kansas University's campus.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Karen Chase, Centropolis, and the late A.L. "Smokey" Chase. She earned a degree in English from Kansas University and is pursuing a master's degree in business administration from Baker University. She is a consultant for a Web site design firm in Kansas City.

The future groom is the son of Kevin and Joan Schavee, Leavenworth. He received a degree in geology from Kansas University. He is employed as a geologist with an environmental firm in Lawrence.

The couple plan a February 2007 wedding in Mexico.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Karen Wetta, Silver Lake, and the late Maurice Wetta. She graduated in 2001 from Silver Lake High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and international studies in 2006 from Kansas University. She is pursuing a graduate degree in Latin American studies at KU and is employed with Douglas County Bank.

The future groom is the son of Melisa Burns and August Sprung, Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Park Hill South High School in Kansas City, Mo. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in English from KU and is employed with Dave and Buster's in Kansas City, Kan.

The couple plan a Dec. 30 wedding at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City, Mo.

Jolene Byer and Jay Phillips were married June 10, 2006, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Perham, Minn., with the Rev. Joe Herzing officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Joe and Karen Byer, Perham. The groom is the son of Dennis and Candi Phillips, Shawnee.

Matron of honor was Kristin Greathouse. Best man was Jim Cavlovic. Bridesmaids were Tracy Fischer and Amy Wacker. Groomsmen were Bryan Botts and Greg Byer. Ushers were Shanda Hayden and Midge Botts. Ring bearer was Tristan Byer.

A reception was given at Perham Lakeside Golf Club in Perham.

The bride, a graduate of Perham High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and a Master of Science degree in counseling psychology from Kansas University.
She is employed with KU's School of Business.

The groom, a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from KU. He is employed with Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo, Mo.

The couple reside in Overland Park.

Jodie Bacon and Peter Wesner were married May 27, 2006, at Ellinwood First Baptist Church. David Wesner, father of the groom, performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Shelley Bacon, Baldwin. The groom is the son of David and Claudia Wesner, Ellinwood.

Maid of honor was Angie Bacon. Best man was Steven Dewey. Bridesmaids were Tracie Bacon, Hannah Cheyney and Shyree Livin. Groomsmen were Austin Asher, Josh Wesner and Andy Wesner. Flower girl was Lyric Bell. Ring bearer was Eli Hiskey.

The bride graduated from Baldwin High School in 2002 and Sterling College in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science.

The groom graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1999 and from Sterling College in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is employed as a retirement plan consultant.

The bride is the daughter of Joel and Nicky Kolatch, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Paul and LuAnn Baumchen, Lawrence.

Maid of honor was Emily Kolatch. Best man was Cameron Baumchen. Bridesmaids were Jessica Diffley, Anne Woolwine and Ashley Kwait. Groomsmen were Phil Johnson, Pat Watkins and Franco Olivier. Ushers were Peter Liquori and Briggs Fish.

Carly Fish was guest book attendant. Will Baumchen, Jess Baumchen, Zane Baumchen and Deven Baumchen handed out bubbles. Brandi Lesman was cake server. Sarah Meinershagen was wedding coordinator and reader.

The bride, a 2000 Free State High School graduate, earned a bachelor's degree in health, sports and exercise science in 2005 from Kansas University.

The groom, also a 2000 Free State graduate, earned a bachelor's degree in history in 2004 from Baker University.

Meghan Lea Fryett and Joseph Eugene Baranski were married May 13, 2006, at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka with Retired Judge Robert Miller officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Roger and Dorothy Fryett, Hutchinson. The groom is the son of Dennis and Linda Baranski, Lecompton.

The bride is a Topeka High School graduate. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Kansas University and a Master of Library Science degree from Emporia State University. She is a librarian at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.

The groom is a graduate of Oskaloosa High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Washburn University and Master of Science and Biosciences degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where he is a student in the Doctor of Osteopathy program.

The couple reside in Topeka.

Melodie Faulkner and Zak Weis were married Sept. 4, 2006, in Bellagio, Italy, with Rita Annuziata officiating.

The bride is the daughter of David Faulkner, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Pam Faulkner, Smithville, Mo. The groom is the son of Lynn Weis, Charlotte, N.C., and Jan and Mike Hayes, Oskaloosa.

The bride, a graduate of Ulysses High School, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from West Texas A&M University. She is a personal trainer for Gold's Gym.

The groom, a graduate of Lawrence High School, received a bachelor's and master's degree from Kansas University. He graduated from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. He practices podiatric medicine for Advanced Reconstructive Foot Care and the Veterans Administration.

The couple reside in Amarillo, Texas.

Anniversary

Jane and Leland Massey

Leland and Jane Massey, Eudora, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 1127 Locust St., Eudora.

Jane Armstrong and Leland Massey were married Oct. 3, 1956, in Oahu, Hawaii. Jane recently retired from the Eudora school district after driving a bus for nearly 40 years. Leland was employed by Koch Industries and has been an auctioneer for many years.

Their children are Kenny and Diane Massey and Stacy Massey and her fiance, Gary Gazzarari, all of Eudora. They have four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Leta Mae's birthday was Sept. 28.

Leta Mae Hodges and Ivan Percival were married June 10, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.

Their children are Jennifer Weible and Steven Conner, both of Olathe, Gaye Nicholson, Lawrence, and Jolene Janak, Katy, Texas. They have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Galen Douglass and Debra Mozingo were married Oct. 4, 1975, in Gridley.

Debbie works at the Kansas Geological Survey as an administrative assistant. Galen works at ICL as an operator.

Their children are Tim and Jana Flory, Lawrence, and Jeremy Douglass, Lawrence. They have four grandchildren.

The future groom is the son of Jess and Betty Sayler, Burlington. He graduated in 1995 from Burlington High School and attended Emporia State University. He has been a Lawrence police officer since 2000.

The couple plan an Oct. 21 wedding at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship in Lawrence.

Rosie and Murray Hodge, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St. Friends and family are invited

Rosetta Badger and Murray Hodge were married Oct. 10, 1946, in Lawrence, with the Rev. Gilbert Yearn officiating. Murray Hodge retired from Kansas Construction and now works for Westlake Hardware.

Rosie Hodge retired from the Lawrence school district, where she worked in the cafeteria.

Hosts of the reception will be their children: Patty Craine, David and Penny Hodge, and Charlene and Terry Hodge Sr., all of Lawrence.

They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
