The bride-to-be is a graduate of Kansas University, where she is studying for her doctorate in public administration. She is employed as a graduate research assistant and an assistant coordinator for the Dean's
Scholars Program. She is the granddaughter of Frank and Joan Portillo and Michalina Kreiser, all of Chicago.
The future groom received his bachelor's degree and juris doctorate from KU. He is an assistant district defender for the 10th Judicial District's public defender's office. He is the grandson of Leah Gladstone, Overland Park.
The couple plan an October 2006 wedding in Overland Park.
Lindsey Jo Ward and Daniel Carl Haas were married July 2, 2005, at Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Mo., with the Rev. Dr. Cliff Jones officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Sherri Ward, Vinita, Okla., and Joe and Tami Ward, Claremore, Okla. The groom is the son of Connie Haas, Lawrence, and the late Carl Haas.
Maid of honor was Melanie Phabmixay. Best man was Kevin Lund. Bridesmaids were Nicole Bernard, Keli Bolen, Carrie Klitzing, Angela Rader, Rebecca Chadwell, Allyson Moore, Audrey Shipman and Shcara Parks. Groomsmen were Ryan Grimm, Mike Reppe, Cyrus Wright, John Major, Patrick Bible, Jason Ward, Daniel Grammatikos and Mark Gobel.

A reception dinner, dance and fireworks display was given at Circle S Ranch after the ceremony. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Jamaica.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Wichita South High School and Kansas City Mortuary College. The groom is a 1990 graduate of Lawrence High School and Johnson County Community College.
