Carl and Sammie Locke, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by their children.
They were married Aug. 25, 1956, in the Robert Carr Chapel on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
They have resided in Lawrence since 1986, when Carl became dean of engineering at Kansas University. He was dean until fall 2002 and then taught in the chemical and petroleum engineering department at KU until he retired in May 2005. Sammie was an elementary school teacher for 12 years. She worked in Newcastle, Okla.; Norman,
Okla.; and Lawrence. Their children are Stephen and Kathryn Locke, Junction City, and Carlene and Russell Rupp, Perry, Okla. They also have 10 grandchildren.
Ralph and JoAnn Brown, rural Linwood, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today with a luncheon given by their children, Tim and Tami Brown, Plainfield, Ind., and Julie and Leon Hendrix, Olive Branch, Miss., and four grandchildren.
Ralph is retired from Lone Star Cement and JoAnn is employed by Village Floral in Tonganoxie.
They are active members of Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, where they were married Aug. 26, 1956.
Duane and Barbara Larison, McLouth, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday with a family dinner.
They were married Sept. 1, 1956, in Winchester.
Duane has worked as a carpenter all his life.
Barbara has been a homemaker who for the past 10 years has worked at Village Floral in Tonganoxie.
Their children are Cindy Larison, Tonganoxie; Sandra Rodgers, McLouth; Brenda Bullington, Yuma, Ariz.; and Leonard Larison, Tonganoxie. They also have 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The bride is the daughter of Kelly and Melinda Hoover, Lawrence, and the granddaughter of Cynthia Parsons, Lawrence, and Dorothy Hoover, Herington. The groom is the son of Ed and Judy Stites, Edwardsville.
Maid of honor was Jamilee Hoover. Dalton and Grady Stites were best men. Cynthia Parsons was flower girl. Jacob Hoover was ring bearer.
A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School. She is employed at OrthoKC.
The groom is a 1990 graduate of Bonner Springs High School and a 2003 graduate of a police academy. He is a police officer in Bonner Springs.
The couple reside in Kansas City, Kan.

Dennis and Dorothy Knudsen, Oskaloosa, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Thursday.
Dennis Knudsen and Dorothy Hannah were married Aug. 31, 1956, at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ira Nicklin officiating.
Their children are Darla Smith, McLouth, and Darren Knudsen, Oskaloosa. They also have four granddaughters.
Dennis retired in 1997 after being a truck driver for 36 years.
Dorothy retired from the Lawrence Westar Energy Center in 1995 after 26 years of service.
Lois and Leon Condley, Topeka, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in August.
Lois Hildenbrand and Leon Condley were married Sept. 9, 1956, in Stull. Lois grew up in the Stull area. She is a retired hairdresser, and Leon is a retired firefighter.
Their children are Julia and David Strobel, Topeka, and Roy Condley, Topeka.
