Puckett

Walter and Dorothy Puckett, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Friday.

Walter Puckett and Dorothy Tevis were married July 29, 1965.

They have one daughter, Cynthia Davis, Lawrence.

The couple invite friends and family to share in Sunday church services at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Baptist Temple.

The future bride is the daughter of Norma McCune, Minneola, and the late Howard McCune. She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993 and is a co-owner of Wakarusa Veterinary Hospital, LLC.

The future groom is the son of Howard and Erma Rowland, Hutchinson. He received a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and is pursuing a master's degree in agronomy. He is employed at United Parcel Service.

The couple plan a Sept. 24 wedding in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jan Prastka and Ludmila Prastkova, Milevsko, Czech Republic. She graduated from South Bohemia University, Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. She is a translator for a law firm in Prague.

The future groom is the son of David and Barbara Marden, Lawrence. He is a 1996 graduate of Lawrence High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000 from Georgetown University and a juris doctorate in 2005 from Vanderbilt University. In September, he will work for law firm Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C.

The couple plan an Aug. 12 wedding in Prague, Czech Republic.

Gary and Denise Johnson, Eudora, formerly of Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Betsey Erin Johnson, to Nicholas James Gallinger, son of Bruce and Nancy Gallinger, Cheyenne, Wyo.

The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Pike Valley High School, Scandia, and a May 2005 graduate of Kansas University with a doctorate of pharmacy. She is a staff pharmacist with Albertsons in Fort Collins, Colo.

The future groom is a 1999 graduate of East High School in Cheyenne, Wyo., and a May 2005 graduate of KU with a doctorate of pharmacy. He is employed as a clinical pharmacist at United Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.

A spring 2006 wedding is planned at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is a Lawrence High School graduate. She earned bachelor's degrees in journalism and psychology from Kansas University. She works in international marketing for Hilton Hotels Corp.

The future groom is a Garden City High School graduate. He received bachelor's degrees in business administration and accounting from KU. He also earned a master's degree in accounting and information systems. He is a public accountant for Ernst & Young LLP.

The couple plan a May 27 wedding at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.

JJ and Jeanne Underwood, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jimmie Jack Underwood and Jeanne Stringfellow were married July 21, 1955, at Fort Hamilton Chapel in Brooklyn, N.Y.

JJ was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He started a dental practice in Lawrence in 1957. Jeanne was a dental hygienist. They are both retired. Jeanne's mom, Charlotte Dominique, resides with them.

Their children are Jim and Peggy Underwood, Lawrence; Jane and Carl Culbertson, Lawrence; Lori and Jeff Underwood, Great Bend; and John and Anne Underwood, Baldwin. They also have nine grandchildren.

The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. She graduated with a degree in arts management in 2001 from Emerson College, Boston. She works in marketing for Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles.

The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Wilmington Friends School, Wilmington, Del. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in film from Emerson College in 2001. He works as a producer for L.E.G. Productions in Los Angeles.

The couple plan an Oct. 15 wedding at Liberty Hall.

Robert and Margaret Sexton

Robert and Margaret Jane Sexton, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends in Lawrence.

They were married July 5, 1945, in Lawrence.

After a brief tenure in South Gate, Calif., the couple returned to Lawrence in 1949. Robert was an electrician for several companies in the Lawrence area until 1958, when he started his career as a business agent for Local No. 226 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He became primary agent in 1963. He was promoted to international labor representative in 1969 and became president and co-founder of Electrical Corporation of America in 1971. He retired in 1986.

Margaret Jane is a homemaker and near lifelong resident of Lawrence.

Their children are Connie and Terry Vogt, Stone Mountain, Ga., and Terry and Kathy Sexton, Lawrence. They have two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Darrell and Linda McCune, Ottawa. She is an Ottawa High School graduate. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology and child and family studies at Northwest Missouri State University and a master's degree in social work from Kansas University. She works for the WRAP program of Lawrence which is a partnership between Lawrence Public Schools and Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center.

The future groom is the son of Jerry and Linda Bobey, Topeka, and Peggy and Tom Palmer, Osage Beach, Mo. He graduated from Jefferson West High School. He received a bachelor's degree in environmental science from KU. He works as a PACS network engineer for Cassling Diagnostic Imaging.

The couple plan an Oct. 22 wedding at Clarice L. Osborne Memorial Chapel in Baldwin.

The bride is the daughter of Ted and Kim Morris, McPherson. The groom is the son of Chuck and Tami Singleton, McPherson.

Maid of honor was Stephanie Morris. Best man was Hoyt Estes. Bridesmaids were Bridget Hardy, Sara Boardman, Jessica DeWild and Danielle Morris. Groomsmen were Adam Young, John Rader, Brock Neiman and Tyler Singleton. Flower girl was Ruby Morris. Jackson Singleton was ring bearer.

A reception was given at McPherson Country Club.

The bride is a McPherson High School graduate. She attends Kansas University and is employed by AG Edwards.

The groom is a McPherson High School graduate. He attends KU and is employed by Alvamar Country Club.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Bill and Nancy Keel, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Rick and Liz Buschelman, Edmond, Okla.

Maid of honor was Ann Foltz. Best man was Sebastian D'Amico. Bridesmaids were Mitzi Keel and Katie Reddig. Groomsmen were Brian Buschelman and Robert Reddig. Ushers were Capt. Fritz Keel, Brandon Sifers, Tray Sifers and Tyler Sifers.

A reception was given at Maceli's.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education and mathematics from Kansas University in 2003.

The groom is a 2000 graduate of Edmond Memorial High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from KU in 2005. He is a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

The couple reside at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

The bride is the daughter of Dan and Janie Kirk, Keller, Texas. The groom is the son of George and Elaine Roberson, Trophy Club, Texas, and Peggy Roberson, Savannah, Ga.

Matron of honor was Kelly McNab. Best man was Mark Roberson. Katie Roberson and Briana Roberson were flower girls. Jacob McNab, Hunter McNab and Will Roberson were ring bearers.

Readers were Connie Mayes and George Roberson. Wade Stockton was fiddler. Tim Johnson was motorcycle escort. Ushers were JoJo Herndon, Dustin Martin and Cody Hardin. Guest book attendant was Chelsa Martin. Ashley Allen was greeter. Maureen Matthews was gift table attendant.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Luckenbach Dance Hall in Luckenbach, Texas. Music was provided by The Luckenbach Irregulars.

The bride is a Lawrence High School graduate. She attended Kansas University and Wichita State University. She is an archaeological assistant for the National Park Service.

The groom is a graduate of Southwest High School, Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He graduated from Federal Law Enforcement Center in Brunswick, Ga. He is a law enforcement park ranger and K9 officer for the National Park Service.

The couple reside in Del Rio, Texas.
