The FBI has offered a $2,000 reward for information about the person responsible for robbery at a Lawrence bank earlier this summer.
The robbery occurred on July 2 at the Bank of America at 900 Ohio St., as the Journal-World reported. The FBI issued a press release offering the reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect.
The release said the suspect entered the bank at 9:21 a.m. that day carrying a black bag and demanded money from a teller before fleeing the scene, heading south on foot with “an undisclosed amount” of cash.
The suspect is described in the release as a Black individual with an athletic build, between 6 feet and 6 feet, 5 inches in height and weighing about 190 pounds. At the time of the robbery, the release said the suspect was wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket with a dark-colored undershirt; black pants with a white emblem on the left upper leg; multicolored shoes; light blue “HyFlex” gloves; large, square sunglasses; and a face mask with red, yellow and black coloring.
The release included several photographs taken from surveillance cameras at the bank. The new photos are of a higher quality than what was released to the public at the time of the robbery and include a picture of the suspect’s shoes, which had bright red soles.
The FBI has asked anyone with information about the robbery to call the Kansas City division at 816-512-8200 or to submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov. Residents can also report anonymously through Douglas County Crime Stoppers by calling 785-843-8477.
