A 50-year-old man whose body was found in September at a campsite near Clinton Lake died of natural causes, according to a recently released autopsy report.

The man, Philando White, of Overland Park, was found by law enforcement around 10 a.m. Sept. 7 at a campsite in the 600 block of North 1415 Road at Clinton State Park, as the Journal-World reported. Law enforcement had responded to the area for a welfare check of an unconscious person.

The circumstances surrounding White’s death had been under investigation, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office told the Journal-World, until a medical examiner could provide a cause of death.

The autopsy report says that White died of hypertensive cardiovascular disease. It indicates that there was no evidence of trauma to White’s body, and no drugs or toxins were detected.

White’s sister, Pamela Austin, of Atlanta, told the Journal-World in September that White’s death was unusual for someone who appeared to be so healthy and active. She said that White, a delivery driver, was a nature lover and was at the lake for recreational purposes.
