The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will use enhanced patrols to combat impaired driving during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday that the patrols would be increased as traveling for the holiday is expected to grow. Along with keeping an eye out for impaired drivers, the patrols will also be focusing on seat-belt compliance and distracted driving.

“We hope everyone has a great time this week and is able to reach their destinations safely. To do that, we ask travelers to wear their seat belts, secure child seats and take their time on the roads,” Sheriff Jay Armbrister said in the news release. “Also be sure to avoid distractions as roads will be busier.”
