A wreath was placed at the base of the Campanile on the University of Kansas campus on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2021. The Campanile is a war memorial on the KU campus that honors KU veterans who were killed in World War II.

The University of Kansas hosted multiple events on Thursday to commemorate Veterans Day. Here’s a look at scenes from a ceremony at the Campanile and an open house at the Dole Institute of Politics, which unveiled a new digital display honoring thousands of Kansas veterans.

Audrey Coleman, incoming director of the Dole Institute of Politics, shows off the center’s new Kansas Veterans Virtual Memory Wall, which went live this week. The digital display of veterans from across the state contains about 5,000 entries. Coleman said Kansas veterans can continue to have their names added to the virtual wall by submitting information at kansasveterans.doleinstitute.org.
