The City of Lawrence will receive a $3.7 million federal grant to purchase low-emission buses, Sen. Jerry Moran’s office announced Wednesday.

The city and the University of Kansas coordinate their bus service. The Federal Transit Authority grant will go toward acquiring low-emission buses and supporting supplies and facilities, according to a news release. Moran said in the release that the grant was an investment into the health of the community and the safety of the public transit system in Lawrence.
