Woman charged with fleeing police twice in one weekend
Douglas County prosecutors Tuesday charged a 52-year-old Lawrence woman with eluding police, reckless driving and driving while suspended related to a weekend chase with Lawrence police.
Police said Sunday they arrested Sharon Lynn Roberts at her home after she had led police on two separate vehicle chases Friday and Saturday. Both pursuits began near 31st and Iowa streets as Roberts was wanted for outstanding warrants, and police later call them off. Prosecutors charged Roberts on Tuesday in connection with Saturday’s incident.
A judge Tuesday set her bond at $25,000, and her next hearing is scheduled for June 4. Roberts was also charged Roberts earlier this month with aggravated assault and reckless driving after she was accused of using her vehicle as a weapon during a road rage incident near Clinton Lake on May 2.
