Kitchen renovations update ‘heart of the home’

The remodeled kitchen of Pat Treff includes white painted cabinetry, a look that is traditional and timeless, according to the cabinetry designer.
Commonly referred to as the “heart of the home,” kitchens typically offer one of the best returns on investment for homeowners. This week, “Home and Away” visits three homeowners who resuscitated the functionality and pumped new life into the style of their kitchens. The renovations range from a complete makeover to a budget-conscious update. The Treff family knew that a total kitchen remodel was a priority when they purchased their home a year and a half ago.
“The cabinetry was a dark mahogany color, and the flow didn’t work,” says Pat Treff, who brightened the room with white painted maple cabinets and reconfigured the space to improve functionality.
Pat Kosinar, who described her former kitchen as the “size of a postage stamp,” was primarily concerned with efficiency when she opted for a double galley kitchen redesign.
A shortage of counter space and storage was solved when Kris and Chuck Marsh remodeled their kitchen.
