Election 2008

In-depth coverage of the candidates and the issues, all leading up to the Aug. 5 primary and the Nov. 4 general election.

A dozen candidates for political office will chat with LJWorld.com readers this month in advance of the Nov. 4 general election.

Several more candidates are expected to sign up before the month is out. Readers interested in asking questions of candidates can submit a question at LJWorld.com/chats any time between now and when a candidate's chat is scheduled.

Readers can then return to LJWorld.com/chats during or after the scheduled chat to see whether their question was answered and read other responses from the candidates.

Here is a schedule of upcoming chats:

¢ Jim Flory, 3rd District Douglas County Commission, 10 a.m. Tuesday.

¢ Roger Pine, 3rd District state Senate, 1 p.m. Tuesday.

¢ Scott Morgan, 2nd District state Senate, 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Two candidates - Shari Weber, a Republican candidate for the 19th Kansas Senate district, and Ann Mah, Democratic candidate for the 53rd Kansas House district - have already chatted.

Transcripts of the chats can be found at LJWorld.com/chats.

Third District U.S. House Candidate Nick Jordan was scheduled to chat earlier this month, but canceled. He is expected to reschedule.

All candidates on the ballot in the area are invited to chat and can set up a time by contacting online editor Jonathan Kealing, 832-7221, or via e-mail.

A previous version of this story incorrectly left Marci Francisco off of the list who'd already signed up for a chat.

I had contacted Jonathan Kealing and understood that I was scheduled for a chat on Thursday, Oct. 16th at noon. The date and time for my chat wasn't included in the published list.I'm hoping that a correction will be made.Marci Francisco
