Katherine Bruner, a member of the Clean Air Lawrence Coalition, was honored at the Kansas Tobacco Control Summit last week.
Bruner received a policymaker award from the Tobacco Free Kansas Coalition Nov. 13. The award is given to someone who has had an impact in changing public smoking policy on the local or state level.
Two years ago, Bruner helped promote Lawrence's passage of the first local smoking ban in the state.
She now promotes smoking bans around the state and tells the story of her time in Lawrence.
