Journal-World Athletes of the Week: Jonah Frye and Miranda Kuntz

The first full month of sports in the fall season is about over, and the stakes for the postseason is only getting higher. With that are more impressive performances from local athletes. Here are the Journal-World sports staff’s selections for this week:

Jonah Frye, Free State High School

Frye and the Free State cross country team won the Baldwin Invitational on Saturday, and Frye was the leader of the event. The junior’s time of 16 minutes, 47.3 seconds was over 12 seconds faster than any other runner at the meet.

Miranda Kuntz, Eudora High School

Kuntz is a senior setter and offensive leader for the Eudora volleyball team that is off to a strong start to the 2024 season. The Cardinals started 9-2 through Tuesday’s game with only seven set losses so far this season.
