Lawrence police responded to a report of shots being fired just after 2 a.m. Tuesday inside an apartment in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane.

A 59-year-old man there told police that he and his roommate had a disagreement and then the roommate fired a handgun at him, according to Officer Drew Fennelly of the Lawrence Police Department. The man was not struck by the bullet, Fennelly said.

Police arrested the roommate, a 60-year-old man, and he was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, Fennelly said.

Fennelly said the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office would consider charges.

Jail records indicate the man was being held without bond Tuesday morning. Charges did not appear in a search of District Court records.
