A Lawrence man has been charged with a sex crime against a teen.

Jimmy E. Scott, 42, is charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, a felony, according to the criminal complaint filed in Douglas County District Court. The charges allege that Scott engaged in lewd fondling or touching of a 15-year-old in March of this year.

Prosecutors filed the case Nov. 28, and Scott was arrested on Dec. 7, according to court and jail records.

Scott posted $10,000 bond and is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Friday, according to court records.

When the sex crime was reported to Lawrence police in March, a department spokeswoman replied to the newspaper that because of the nature of the incident police would not provide information about the allegations.
