An 18-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Tuesday in Independence, Kansas, on suspicion of rape.

The man, Kavon Burk Price, was picked up from custody in Montgomery County pursuant to a warrant.

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office has charged Price with one count of rape in which the victim was overcome by force or fear in February of this year.

Price was being held on a bond of $250,000.

Court records indicate that Price pleaded guilty just nine months ago to unlawful voluntary sexual relations, a felony. He had originally been charged with rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. In that case, he was sentenced to six months of probation.

The new alleged sex crime occurred less than two months after Price’s plea in the previous case.
